Oh you could add a corpse or two as long as it didn;t have missing limbs, popped eyeballs etc. You could also add wreckage to the destruction sequence, the problem is it would be so small you'd barely even see it until you were right on top of it so it's not worth doing.

Trust me, objects below a certain size become very hard to spot in space.

it wouldn't make sense if the debris was larger than the fighter. We do have wrecks that are the same size as the fighters (as seen on Ryloth, Bandomeer etc), as I say the problem is it's just not practical to use in space.

Yavin has a rather large reflective surface on it to bounce light back up.

I made a space map for testing. It had lot's of things to fly around, some of which were static fighter wrecks. Some of the testers complained because they thought they were randomly dying. They weren't, it's because once below a certain size objects just become too hard to see against a black backdrop and going as fast as you do in a fighter.
