Topic: Epic space battle map!

I think it would be awesome if we had a space map with a Star Detroyer and a Moncalamari Cruiser! Anyone can take control of their team's cruiser and move it and they can move it to the side of the other one and their guns shoot at each other while a smaller fight rages with fighters between them! Who ever's ship get destroyed first loses and bombers could take part destroying it by using their secondary weapons! And when one of the cruisers is destroyed, it shows a big explosion! It'll be a larger scale of the same explosion that smaller frigates or transports have! Anyone agree!?

Its a good idea but hard to do in practise. A best case scenario would have the 2 ships circling each other on a preset movement track. This would remove sillyness like someone flying an ISD off the map.

Long range ISD/MCC weapons should be firing automatically and have no ingame effect other than a cool light show.
The battle would be deicided by the actions of the fighters, bombers, antifighter turret operators and  possibly some sort of command crew who get access to assets like scanners and maybe some power management options.

The major asset required for this would be the non imperial command ship. A mon calamari crusier is HUUUUGE and we dont really have any interior assets for it either.
Thought I suppose you could make the model by strapping a thousand gallofrees together and painting them orange smile

There are already huge issues with tiny moving statics.  Doing it with huge ones... not much chance there.

DUKE815: Teamwork's complicated.  I've found that ramming a Lambda with a Y-wing at full boost is most effective.

Yes, I can move pretty much whatever I want in game, but the larger the object then the greater the lag effect, plus lots of other issues that creep in. In order to have a mon cal or sd move round each other, say a large circle, they'd have to be thousands of metres from the point of rotation and again, you will end up with a very ugly rotational bundle that lags and will not move smoothly. The container frigate in Parmel is a prime example of the problems with making large objects move.
