This could also happen because of certain maps. I've had it happen when loading into Jundland Wastes and there's an easy fix: wait for a while (~10 secs) becore hitting deploy.

Also, the crash can happen if you're loading into a server with an older version of the mod or if it's running a map you don't have (unlikely.)
