Try updating Punkbuster, that software is a notorious pain in the neck. Usually manually updating it sorts things out.

It worked for me after I did this:

In short:

  • Download this file if you're running windows

  • Place it in a folder, it doesn't matter where. Just try to keep things organised ;-)

  • Run pbsetup.exe

  • Click 'Add a game' and add BF2142

  • Click 'Check for updates' and let it update and it should work

Well so I decided to reinstall BF2142, of course now looking at the image, I realize I didn't have to, but now it won't install, it hangs on to a certain file for about 30 seconds then crashes with an error saying "Failed to install, please try again from the beginning."

This keeps getting better and better, I'm so frustrated...

Sorry to hear that..unfortuantely (or rather fortunately I suppose) the mod isn't responsible for your games refusal to install.

Huh, that sounds like something is stuck in your registry...

If you got the EA Download Manager (or Origin now) version of the game try running the setup exe in windows xp compatibilty. (I don't know whether that's possible with the dvd version) If that doesn't work I guess you have to manually uninstall Battlefield 2142 using this official guide:

Basicly you should delete all folders and registry entries associated with Battlefield 2142.
Installing battlefield, patching and dealing with all its problems is half the fun  tongue

Well I tried a manual Install and it worked, took a while but it worked! And yeah I'm glad it wasn't FS's fault because it seems picky already as it is unfortunately! I hope to see you guys in game, what times do people play normally? And thank you all for helping!

And on a completely unrelated note, I heard some members of Prolific Games helped with this mod or something, are you guys from PG or what?
