Most of the stuff from EA has been taken off steam such as crysis 2 and battlefield 3 pre-order. Stuff here - http://geek.pikimal.com/2011/06/15/ea-r … rom-steam/

Just look for yourself.

Heres a bit more of the story-

So as you know, BF2142 went off to be added to STEAM a while ago and still hasn’t shown up. The reason for this isn’t because the game isn’t ready or that you don’t want it there (I know you guys do and I’m with you on this one) but politics.

As you will have seen recently there are ongoing discussions and situations between EA and Valve with some games no longer showing on STEAM like Crysis 2.

So, at the moment, the only place you can get BF2142 digitally is on Origin – Origin or through the retro method of buying it on DVD from places like Amazon – Battlefield 2142: Deluxe Edition (PC DVD): Amazon.co.uk: PC & Video Games

I’ll let you know if I hear of anything regarding BF2142 going on STEAM but as of now, it is on hold.

Re: So much for a steam release of 2142?

... And Origins is lame compared to Steam.   Steam can verify your files and fix your install if it's corrupted.    You register you existing games on Steam.

I checked Battlefield 2142 on Origins, and the requirements still state that the booster pack must be registered online - which is no longer even possible due to the 1.5 patch.

From reading more online, it appears that it was steam, not EA,  that pulled the plug.  Apparently, Steam wanted an exclusive online sales deal.

Re: So much for a steam release of 2142?

Yeah, it was also something to do with new DLC which would have created issues with this deal or something like that.

Re: So much for a steam release of 2142?

EA was going to release DLC *only* on Origin.  Steam say that any games released on their platform must also have any corresponding DLC released on steam also.  As EA were keeping DLC as origin exclusive, steam told them to bugger off.  That's what I heard, anyway.

Last I heard, however, is EA were still pursuing having BF2142 on steam.

Re: So much for a steam release of 2142?

Reading between the lines I am fairly certain that EA breached their contract with Steam on purpose to make Steam look like the bad guys for taking their games done. Although EA is still 'pursuing' the matter, I don't think either party would be wiling to back down as they each have little to gain. Steam would only invite other companies to breach their contracts in the future and there is very little advantage to EA in having games that are past their big money stage available on a rival platform.
