Topic: Launcher update problem

Ok, so I redownloaded FS to try and get ready for the event Saturday, and I could not get my actually pub launcher updated. I would get a window telling me it was downloading pub launcher 8.4, the green bar would show it like it was down and it would say please wait. Meanwhile, in my first strike folder in program files, a new 5kb file called publauncher0.0.8.4. But after waiting for an hour nothing else happened, and when I go to close the launcher I get an error. Any help would be appreciated! Or critics in regards to my rambling post that I did in 5 mins before going out : p

Why have you re-downloaded FS? Is this a new install to go on a new computer or have you reinstalled Windows? Or have you simply decided to try and reinstall to ensure everything is correct?

If this is a new install over a recent windows installation or on a new computer then I don't understand why you are having problems unless you have forgotten to allows a firewall exception for First Strike.

The first strike launcher does not install to your program files/Electronic arts/BF2142/mods/First Strike folder. It installs to its own folder at program files/ First Strike. Exactly which folder do you mean? There should be a copy of the launcher found at program files/ Electronic Arts/BF2142/mods/First Strike. This copy means you can install the launcher whenever you wish, such as if it becomes corrupted, without having to do a full FS reinstall.

If you have merely decided to install FS to ensure it is all clean, then for all I know you have just created a corruption by not removing the program properly through its uninstall feature. That includes ensuring all program entries for FS and the FS launcher plus their folders were removed.
