Topic: Odd issue with launcher.

First off I was having issues installing the latest 1.6 update and I'm still not sure if its installed. If I check the mod list under community in BF2142 it still shows version 1.5. But I'm just waiting for the full installer because I'm sure its just because I've messed something up. (haven't played in quite a while so it went through a lot of updates)

Regardless the real reason I'm posting here is I was having an issue with the new launcher.
It would start to launch the game and then the game would crash much like vanilla bf2142 would do if I forgot to run it with +widescreen 1.
However the mod still launched just fine with the old launcher. After some fiddling around I found the config xml file for the new launcher and added that launch parameter manually(the +widescreen 1).
Now it works but I'm sure that kind of advanced modification was not intended for the normal user.
Any thoughts?

For the record my resolution is 1680x1050 however I tried almost all of the resolutions in the new launcher in windowed and fullscreen, all crashed before I added the widescreen parameter to the config.

Hmm, something certainly sounds odd. If (while in FirstStrike, I don't play 2142) I go to community, change mods, mine shows as FirstStrike 1.6 (1021). Have you taken a look at the new video I posted? I know it may not be much help with the widescreen thing, but for the basic installation it might help.

I have fired off your config query to the programmer of the launcher to get some advice. Hopefully he will respond here, if not I will pass on any information.

It shows 1.5 both in 2142 and in First Strike, Like I said I'm guessing I did something wrong and rather than mess with it too much I'd rather just wait for the full installer. I did however have some fun enjoying some 1.5, I forgot how much I loved this mod. big_smile

PS I know its most likely impossible but have you ever heard of anyone getting this to work with eyefinity? resolution of 5040x1050? A man can dream right? tongue

Hmm, ok, that is a little weird.

No not heard of eyefinity being used with it!!

We're having a slow uptake on the 1.6 full installer due to a lack of responses from our testing team. If your interested in trying it let me know and I'll send you a link via pm.

Sure I'll try it out.
I'll dust off the ol 2142 disc and start from scratch just to be sure.

Worked great, I didn't even bother to completely reinstall anything. Just deleted first strike and used the installer. My game still says its 1.5 but it definitely is 1.6 since I just played a few games with another FS_Dev.
