Re: The Future of Star Wars?

After what George Lucas did with the last three movies, I am looking forward to see what Mr. Abrams can do with the franchise.  After all, George did leave a lot of room for improvement.

Re: The Future of Star Wars?

Well the title of Ep.VII has been revealed as The Force Awakens, what do we reckon?

I'm not all that into it myself, just a bit of a meh title, also doesn't make much sense, the Force is just there, not something that awakens, unless it means the Force awakening in a person, which might work I guess. Most Star Wars movie  titles have been quite underwhelming for a while now to be honest, with the exception of the last prequel title as Revenge of the Sith while obvious, was at least a cool title.

Re: The Future of Star Wars?

I don't know. I felt a little disappointed when it was announced.

After all the Star Wars titles we've had over the years, across various types of media, this one sounds so generic. hmm

I'm hoping that will change once more info regarding the plot and characters are revealed. And, of course, seeing the film. wink

Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity.

Looks quite good(as teasers do). Unfortunately I am thoroughly spoiled in regards to a lot of the plot and this teaser confirmed that. sad

So I would say avoid spoilers and rumors if you can as there are some doozies out there.

Re: The Future of Star Wars?

Well I think that was worth the wait, short, yes, but sweet. After all this is only the first teaser for a film still a whole year away, still, a nice glimpse of what is to come. Looks good to me.

For me it didn't hit a duff note other than with that weird R2 unit/beach volleyball fatherless child child thing, don't know what that was all about. Other than that it hit all the right notes for me, am liking the look of the new Stormtroopers and it is good to see only the new young leads highlighted in this first trailer letting you know who the movie really is about and moving it on to the next generation, there is plenty of time to focus on the original cast (who we still don't really know how major a part they'll play anyway) in future trailers, it seems like a statement of intent. The broadsword Sith lightsaber is an odd one, there does seem to be some weird aversion to having just a standard lightsaber for the villain, if it was good enough for Darth Vader I say, I guess we have Darth Maul to blame for that trend, still, as impractical as it looks, it is an interesting new twist on the classic weapon, and I dare say when we see the thing in action we'll see just how useful those little sub blades are in some cracking set piece battle. Perhaps it is meant to be some ancient relic of a weapon, it does look a lot like the lightsaber designs you'd see in EU fare such as the old Knights of the Old Republic comics, would also explain the more raw and less refined looking light blade, it looks like it is positively bristling with power, like you could roast your marshmallows over it. Love the ferocious look of the thing, very apt for a Sith/Dark Force user.

The new X-wings look cool in action and when the Falcon showed up to the fanfare, yeah Star Wars is back.

Big grin!!

Re: The Future of Star Wars?

Yeah there was nothing in it I didn't like. New droid is cute and quirky, which is due a lot to it being a practical prop.

New X-wings are good. Villain is cool. The saber is growing on me a lot.

Now I'm not a PT hater but try watching the ROTS trailer immediately after the TFA teaser and tell me it doesn't look way off heh. And ROTS is probably in my top 3. I think we have a winner on our hands.

Re: The Future of Star Wars?

A lot of people are still so jaded by the prequel trilogy that they can't quite get behind this yet. They remember how great the trailer for TPM was and remember how that turned out.

The want to love it, but are still scarred. I'm certainly getting good vibes from it myself.
