Re: The Future of Star Wars?

Rouge One, looks like an interesting story. I'm wondering how much they conformed to existing background on those missions to steal the death star plans.

Re: The Future of Star Wars?

Probably not at all, they're pretty much ignoring all past EU stories as far as the new Star Wars movies are concerned.

Re: The Future of Star Wars?

Do my eyes deceive me or is that another trench (on the ice world)?
The one reservation I had about JJ  taking over the reigns was that, in an attempt to bring back the OT magic, he'd take too much from the OT. He kind of did that with Star Trek, or at least that's what a lot of Trek fans said.

Do like the apparent darker tone tho

Anyway, made sure to stay away from any potential spoilers but due to thinking about one of the characters identity quite a bit I think I've spoiled myself tongue

Not sure when I'll go see it, haven't booked tickets or anything, so I'll have to keep clear of the net as soon as it comes out!

Re: The Future of Star Wars?

Well, the poster has an ice planet with a giant laser built into it, so it looks like we're in Death Star III territory. It's kind of a bummer. How could the Empire (First Order) build such a massive weapon when they've lost a huge swath of the galaxy's labor force. The only way I could see it working, is that they either found it in the edges of the outer rim, or it was built before the fall of the Empire.

Either way, I'm kind of tired of the superweapons. The First Order could be menacing without them, but I'll wait and see how the movie plays it.

The darker tone from the prequels is definately a welcome change. I think I've watched the new trailer about 15 times now. I get to see it opening night in an Imax theater.

Re: The Future of Star Wars?

Haven't booked my tickets yet, going to assemble a posse for opening night first. Doubt there'll be any decent IMAX tickets left for the 16th midnight show now, so will most likely do that at my local multiplex and go for an IMAX show later on (I do envision watching this a few times after all). More on what I thought of the trailer later.
