Anyone running on W10?

I have installed BF2142 from Origin, patched to 1.50 and 1.51. Used the replacement .exe from here:

To load up 2142 successfully, register and create a profile (also have a profile from yesteryear saved anyway wink) Also played a round or two of 2142 to make sure everything works. So the BF2142 side of things is good.

Installed FS 1.6 plus launcher. Fire up the launcher and installed updates. When I hit launch (after setting video preferences) the screen goes black for a few minutes, then crahses with an error message. The only way I can get FS running is by going through the 2142 community tab. Would just be nice to get the thing running correctly from the launcher.

Yes, I have tried replacing the FS .exe with the modified one.

Yes, the launcher, FS .exe and 2142 .exe are set to run as admin and compatability.

Hey Twigs,

Been a while.  Good to see you around.

If you upgraded from 7 or 8 to Win 10 you have to delete the \cache folder:

Documents\Battlefield 2142\mods\Firststrike\cache


I have a stand alone test version that I can upload if you are still having issues.   It's not a complete stand alone.  It will only work if BF2142 was installed, but does not require it to be patched.

It was a clean W10 install Dnamro, and a clean install of 2142 and FS.

Would just be good to figure out whats causing it to crash. As I say, I can get to it via the community tab in 2142, but for someone that may be interested in picking the mod up for some singleplayer action, this needs to be looked at.

Twigs,

I sent you an email with the latest test version of the singleplayer mod.  I have not tested the last public release of FirstStrike on windows 10, but I have tested the beta singleplayer version on three different windows 10 systems, and one with a clean install of windows 10.   On the upgraded systems I am running the origin version of BF2142.  On the clean system, I installed the disk version of BF2142, but could not get the patches to install because of an error that a newer version already existed.    I was able to copy my origin version (with the hacked exe that bypasses the master account server) over the disk version and  it worked just fine.

Ok, will try to take a look over the holidays. Is this to see if it fixes the launcher error, or are you looking for some input?

I also found this about BF2/2142 and windows 8/10,  about issues with the default refresh rate of 60hz.

Documents>Battlefield 2142>Profiles>Default>Video.con file, change this line in text editor

VideoSettings.setResolution 800x600@60Hz
to this:

VideoSettings.setResolution 1920x1080@100Hz

Let me know if you get it running and what you think about the new kit layout.   One thing I am changing is to keep the trooper the rifle the same throughout kits, since it's iconic.  Another is to make the bots less accurate.
