Topic: Survival gameplay for singeplayer
This idea is based on gameplay from the Null Station Spectre map which was a special server event at one time. The Rebels and have pistol kits while the infected storm troopers have melee weapons. With Coop the team ratio can be adjusted to make the gamemplay more challenging. I have also increased the melee weapon damage for one hit one kill. This makes melee battles very deadly with bots and make the gameplay more exciting. You really have to watch your back as I have had a few come up behind me and take me out.
I have tested on a few maps and found that it works better if most of the CPs are owned by the infected stormtroopers and the rebels have to fight to reclaim them. It is also better is the rebels start in the center of the map, that way the bots will attack from multiple directions.
The one issue that I see is that the pistols run out of ammo quickly in this mode and then the rebels are only left with a melee weapon. Currently, at that point you can just die and respawn back in with a fresh pistol. There is no advantage to surviving. What I am thinking is that by adding rifle pick ups hidden around the map, it will give the survivors an incentive to avoid death so they can keep the rifle. These would be tied to capturing flags.
This pistol restriction definitely adds a new dimension to the game.
