Topic: Survival gameplay for singeplayer

This idea is based on gameplay from  the Null Station Spectre map which was a special server event at one time.    The Rebels and have pistol kits while the infected storm troopers have melee weapons.   With Coop the team ratio can be adjusted to make the gamemplay more challenging.  I have also increased the melee weapon damage for one hit one kill.   This makes melee battles very deadly with bots and make the gameplay more exciting.   You really have to watch your back as I have had a few come up behind me and take me out.   

I have tested on a few maps and found that it works better if most of the CPs are owned by the infected stormtroopers and the rebels have to fight to reclaim them.  It is also better is the rebels start in the center of the map, that way the bots will attack from multiple directions.

The one issue that I see is that the pistols run out of ammo quickly in this mode and then the rebels are only left with a melee weapon.    Currently, at that point you can just die and respawn back in with a fresh pistol.   There is no advantage to surviving.   What I am thinking is that by adding rifle pick ups hidden around the map, it will give the survivors an incentive to avoid death so they can keep the rifle.  These would be tied to capturing flags.   

This pistol restriction definitely adds a new dimension to the game.

Ammo droids on flags can help with the ammo issue, they can be risk/reward by putting the droids in harder to defend areas, like a building with multiple entrances or ruins.

DUKE815: Teamwork's complicated.  I've found that ramming a Lambda with a Y-wing at full boost is most effective.

Well, ammo crates don't seem to resupply pistols.

They used to. They were buggy I think cause pistols don't have clips, but if you stood on top of them they'd eventually fill you all up at once.

I went through enough DL-44 bullets to get used to waiting for the damn thing to rearm. tongue

Since I am cloning the pistols, I can modify them so that for survival they have unlimited ammo.

Also, there are no icons for vibro knife and stun baton in the mod, so they still appears a blank on the kit selection list.   The Ryakk blade and the pistols have weapon icons and are showing up fine now.

So, what I thought was a navmesh error is actually a CTD problem when the last flag on a team is capped and there are no respawns available.   It may fix it if I set it up so that when all flags are capped, the game ends.

I found a rally cry icon that  I can use for now for the infected team kit selection icons.  It is basically, a Stormtrooper image over the Imp symbol.    I never noticed before that the stun baton weapon icons are actually knives.   There never was a stun baton weapon icon made.

With the gameplay settings to end the map once the last flag is capped, it did not crash.  I need to test with more maps to be sure.   Each of the night maps will have a survival mode.   With balanced teams, it is not very challenging, but by using coop mode the the team ratio setting can be used to make the infected outnumber the survivors, making for much more challenging gameplay.
