Topic: FirstStrike Singleplayer mod

Now, that BF2142 is fully operational thanks to the Revive team, I have been playing around with the First Strike mod again. It has been a while since I posted this version, so I thought I would update it as it's own mod:  FirstStrikeSP

This is a Full version Independent mod. This is seperate from FirstStrike, which is not needed to play this mod.  Therefore, DO NOT make any changes to the FirstStrike mod folder.  This goes in it's own mod folder.    The original FirstStrike mod is multiplayer focused, with some SP/COOP support, which the SP version is Singleplayer focused.   COOP mode is enabled but not set up for playing on a server.   This is a Zip file.  Unzip it to your desktop and then make sure you copy as mods\firststrikeSP

(Be careful that you don't have a double folder)

The AI is better in the SP version.  The bots use a wider variety of the special handweapons.

use the Revive Launcher to start the mod.  Do not use the mod updater/launcher.


What is new?

Escape From Hoth:  SP updated from FSX mod.   Ties are launched in space, since bots can't fly them out of the Hangar.   
Endor clearing:   SP has been completely redone.   Each game mode has it's own unique gameplay.  64 mode features AT-ST vs AT-PT.    The use of speederbikes by bots has been toned down on this map.
Silver Station:  SP added, but currently very frustrating to be hit by constant fire of EMP weapons by the automated sattelites.
Survival versions of maps:   StormTroopers are infected with the Blackwing Virus which gives increased strength and health but limits to using hand to hand weapons.  Their increased strength stamina gives them instant kill with meelee weapons and they take a few pistol shots to take down.    Rebels have pistols and grenades.


Notes:

With Hoth defense your supposed to defend the trench flags as rebels.  Trying to get the automated ATATs to work within the limits of the game
engine is proving too difficult. I am going to have to make them player controlled only, but spawn them close to the trenches and set them up so
that they can automatically attack. The ATATs are still in Beta and damage settings have not been set up, so they don't currently take any
damage.   The Navmesh can use some hand refining, but the bots currently manage to make their way around.

Hoth Dogfighting is a dogfighting only map features snowspeeders vs Ties.  Rebels launch from a base on Hoth.  Ties are launched in the sky.

Also, the jundland infantry map doesn't seem to work. And there are no snowspeeders in the hoth dogfighting maps. Is this patch supposed to fix the above issues?

So, I what do you think about the different modes and maps?

Anchorhead has potential.   I named it Anchorhead infantry because I was trying to separate it into two maps, one with just infantry in the city and the other as it plays now.     The original mapper was trying to have the flags represent droids that have to be found and captured.   Something like that might be better if the droids were destructible and destroying all the droids
wins the round.    What I like about this map is the potential to have large land battle in the open area that can transition into a city battle.   Maybe I will try some different vehicles for the 16,32 and 64 game modes.

Escape From Hoth was only designed for SP target practice.  It may be possible to set up it up to have the bots fly around the map more and reduce flying into the ISD, so there can be actual dogfighting above the ISD.  The use of an automated cap ship like in Talloran that autopilots to the objective may work.

Rhen Var Citadel might make a good survival map.   With the reduced visibility and lots of places to hide the infected troopers could spawn out of a lot of areas. 

What about Hoth Defense?  I just wish I could come up with a better way to increase the difficulty as game play goes on.  I tried that by having automatic firing probe droids drop down from the sky if a flag is taken by the imperials.

Uhh, im actually looking for the patch mentioned in the readme.

I didnt try all maps but i noticed that i keep crashing after every match thats finished.

The jundland infantry map dosent work

And i dont see snowspeeders on hoth dogfight.

Endor strike team size 16 crashes on load, also no at-st walkers as advertised.

And rhen var citadel map crashes during loading screen

So yeah the current version could use some work to be more stable.

Patch was for an earlier version.  Not needed for this one.  Try deleting your cache.

Endor clearing has AT-ST.

Endor Strike team is infantry only.

I have these files called httpCache and LogoCache so i assume theae are the cache files i was looking for? I deleted them but the problems still persist. I still get crashes .

The random crashing after leaving a match, is that a base game issue?

Other problems still persist that i think you should know:

-jundland wastes dosent work,
- rhen var citadel map crashes when clicking on deploy
-imperial bots dont seem to be heading towards anchorhead.
