Topic: Dark, damp rainy map?
This has probablt been adressed a few times. But BF1942 and BF2 both share the same problem. Every single map is in the day, and its always clear outside, and if we are lucky its dusk (kudra dam, my favoutite map). I know falling snow on the hoth levels was discussed already, But what about lighting, thunder, dark grey skies, sand storms ect ect? Is any of that possible? I think it would be pretty cool to have atleast 1 map that is very damp, and has grey raining/about to rain skies. And thunder in the backround. That would be a pretty damn cool mood setting level. Perhaps have a large ammount of the terain coverd in damp grass or mud so that when you are trying to shoot someone from above you can see all mud and water splashing around them. Damn, that would be a pretty sweet elvel. And also it would be very wide open, but at the same time be full of foresty sections, and barron partially destroyed buildings. Just emagine camping in a near by bushy area with the grey skies, Moist air, flashes of lightning, and thunder goung on and seeing in the distance a squad of swamp troopers trying to flank one of your squads, when all of a sudden you pull out your heavy repeater and blast at them. Now emagine you being in the squad thats being shot at. Rain falling, thunder going, lightning flashes, muddy splashing sounds as your squad trails through the damp terrain, when all of a sudden water and mud start splashing everywhere and your buddies are getting kileld and lazers flying past and wattery explostions andnasnnj ahjlfgjhfghjkddhjh arghq herg erogsdfjh'lsfdkjh!!!! As you can see I got carried away. But you get the gist of it. I wish I could make maps, I have many crazy, yet cool ideas.

Re: Dark, damp rainy map?
Well it wouldnt be much more demanding than the current BF2 maps other than possably the rain falling. There are a couple damp maps in bf2 with the same type of effects when you shoot the ground. Darkening hte level, making the sky grey, and adding thunder sounds might not make much of a difference in graphical performance, but it would be a whoel different mood.

Re: Dark, damp rainy map?
maybe in a ptch they could include an option whether to include background effects. That would open this idea up a little more for thunderstorms ect. in the background
