Topic: What I Hope For

Couple of things really. First one is dolphin diving, played BF2 for a little bit and got tired of this lame tactic. COD2 guys got so bored with it they modded it out of their game on some servers.

Its extremely weak. Hope its not repeated in first strike. Falling down on your stomach then shooting and then getting up on your feet should take more than the existing 0.01 seconds. Its just daft and helps to spoil a game. Going to prone should take a bit of time as does getting up on your feet. Dolphin diving a big no.

Found that BF2 is seriously vehicle heavy, meaning the poor infantry guy is lost in a huge mechanised world. Dont lose the infantry beneath a wave of toys for the boys machines, in just for the sake of it to make it look pretty. Hoping for some damn fine infantry maps.

Artillery strikes are just too awesome and also very cheap. Maybe Im out of sync cos Im just a grunt.

Im dissapointed that a lot of FPS dont deserve the title, should be VS (vehicle shooters). Ever wondered why CS is the most popular on line game, ever seen a tank in CS. Its all about the guy on the ground and how good he can aim. Hoping FS gives some good examples of this.

Re: What I Hope For

dolphin diving is not possible anymore in bf2 since a patch or two ago if I'm not mistaken. as for vehicles, we are aiming for both styles. the extremes will be an all infantry map (possibly with just a few transports) and the the space maps which obviously are mostly about space fight.

Re: What I Hope For

That sounds cool. I do hope however to see a more commander based role. Artillery, while cheap sometimes, was certaintly important strategically. Bf is very unique in that it provides a view of the battle from all pionts, that of the close in infantry man, the far off fighter jockey, and the all wise commander. The commander's ability to guide his troops should boosted I think, like maybe offering incentives to people who obey the orders, instead of ignoring them.

Lol man....

Well First of all, you can dolphin dive if you are good enough.

Second, If you don't like the vehicles in BF2 then why are you playing the game? BF2 is a vehicle oriented game and always will be, that what gets most people involved in the game.

Third, I agree with you on the artillery, never really liked that feature anyways

Forth, BF2 is a FPS by definition, it just has vehicles.

Last, If you love infantry so much go play CS, if you don't like BF2 as a vehicle oriented game, don't play it. kthxbi cool

Re: What I Hope For

I get what you say Tren. I dont dislike all vehicles its just so heavy on them. Funny thing is Battlefield Vietnam used vehicles but the balance was great you could have some great infantry fire fights. Balance like that is what Im hoping for.

Universals post gives me hope.

Thanks

Yeah, I understand where your coming from as well, BF2 can seem a little "Vehicle Heavy" on some maps, but again, this is a vehicle oriented game.

I do agree with you though on the balance, if anyone ever finds the prefect balance of infantry and vehicles, please let me know because your my new hero. Although, for FirstStrike, I want a lot of vehicles because its not like your just getting some new Humvees, I mean were talking AT-AT's and XWings and a ton of cool stuff here. I think balance is a good idea, but don't cut back on those vehicles we love, at least for this mod. smile

Re: What I Hope For

Im not a big fan of BF2 . I dont like Vehicle orientated ground maps ( our space maps will be diffewrent of course wink )  However I LOVE BF2: Special Forces since its more infantry orientated. Yes, there are still vehicles but it wouldnt feel right havin no tanks etc to leg it away from lol . There pretty easy to take down anyway. In vanilla BF2 you need a vehicle to get anywhere on the majority of maps (which are too open to hide from tanks )

Give me Urban warfare with tanks big_smile
