Topic: Aircraft Technical Advisor

I don't know if you guys will ever actually need someone for this but I'm tired of hitting games that screw it all up. Every now and then I find one that hit the nail on the head. So here I go.

Name: Chance Neel
Email: chanceneel@gmail.com
MSN Messenger: chanceneel@hotmail.com
Location: Del Rio Texas
Age:24
Do you own BF2: Yes
Mod Experience: Played several
Expertise In: Aviation.

Graduated with degree in Aviation Sciences. Have held private, instrument, commercial, commercial multi, certified flight instructor, flight instructor instrument ratings. I currently fly around 20hrs a week. The aircraft I have flown include the following:Cessna 152, 172, 182, 210,PA-44,M20 Mooney, Steerman bipeplane, Piper Tomahawk, Warrior, Arrow, Archer, Merlin IIIB, ATR 42 sim(full motion), B737sim(full motion), Spaceshuttle(NASA Sim in Houston).

I've played many mods over the years and some have had great aircraft feel and some i've found just to be plane sloppy. Should the mods want someone to take these things out for a spin and give some feedback on how they respond, accelerate, deccelerate, ect I'd be more than happy to help. I think this mod could shoot through the roof so I'd hate to see people not play it because of lousy aircraft.

Re: Aircraft Technical Advisor

lol you got me there. But there is no doubt about it. You play BF2 right now and it doesn't feel right. The aircraft don't handle too well. There are certain characteristics all aircraft abide by. Some things you just know. I can't explain it. But after crawling in many different aircraft, a few more than what's listed there, you just know if it's got it or not. I did shoot a couple reentries in the space shuttle lol. I don't know too many that have done that big_smile

The wide but short airstrip where the plane lands in 100ft is BS. Put some heat on that sucker. Also it needs a little more change in control over various speeds. Different rates of turn. The different models also should have different characteristics such as how they bleed off airspeed during a turn, stall speeds ect. They just don't have the feel. BF1942 desert combat mod was great.

I don't care if they are harder that's the point; you have to get skill to use them. The original heli's in Desert Combat took hours and hours to learn. That made some masters and the rest stay away and practice. Then they made it so anyone could fly them. Keep it more real. Make it right, not easier.

Re: Aircraft Technical Advisor

I'm not sure that BF2 is the best engine for making realistic aircraft, most of the flying information would be hard coded into the game but your knowledge may be useful in the future.

Re: Aircraft Technical Advisor

i duno there are certain things you can edit in BF for flight... i like the sound of the input you could provide. it may only result in the testing stages before public, yet that will help as basic coding will be there.

thank you for offering your help, im sure we will talk soon and go from there big_smile

Re: Aircraft Technical Advisor

Well the desert combat guys took the WWII game and made apache's ect in it. You'd be suprised. Like I said I don't know if it's needed or not. but sometimes i get in a game and i'm just like blahhhhhh wtf is this. Sometimes they just get it all wrong.

Re: Aircraft Technical Advisor

I doubt this will be needed any but I also worked for ABC news for a few years while in college as a film editor. I did both linear and non-linear editing using matrox and other systems. So if you guys decide you need someone to put a package together for download just let me know.
