Topic: FirstStrike Statement

After our weekly meeting the FirstStrike Team have come to an agreement in that we will be porting over to the BF2142 Engine on its release.
To this end we will continue with our developments and our projected Map releases. Gameplay will change but we can only see this being for the better with the additional functionality.
This functionality will allow us to create the type of Vehicles, Weapons and Character Loadouts with Scenarios that matter to us and more importantly you the player.
Sorry for the disapointment for the fans who may not be wishing to port, but we believe its in everyones best interests in the long run.

Hi! I think that's great, cause the Engine of 2142 will be much better for a Sci-Fi Mod like FS.
Of course i'm sad, cuz now we have to wait longer!! But maybe the "Empire-Rising"-Mod comes to a release for BF2! Then we would have Galactic Conquest for BF42, Empire Rising for BF2 and First Strike for BF2142 and i think thats the best!

Are you going to update your models? Please do all the modelling stuff now (even all static objects and buildings etc.) so that you have only to code when BF2142 is released! I can't wait!!!!

Anyway I hope we get regularly updates!!! A few months ago we got every 3 days an update and now?... every 3 months!!!  mad

We are modeling texturing away, no need to worry about that. All our current models will be usable, so that means models wise we have most of what we need for bf2142 when the time comes. The only issue will be coding and mapping. So expect the release fairly soon after the release of the mod tools. *Please don't quote me on that. As we have all noted rates of work go up and down

A good while longer to wait then sad  .  Btw , roughly how long does it take EA to release mod tools after the game comes out? ( If we follow what they did for 1942 , bf2 ect)

It doesn't necessarily mean it will take any longer for the mod to come out. The game is set to be released in October of this year, which is 3 months away. We'll have all the stuff we want done by then, like the statics for our planned maps. DICE recently put together a community mod team to talk with the community and deal with problems the modding community is having, so it looks like they're paying more attention to modding now and the tools will likely come out a lot faster than they did for bf2.

If we don't go to 2142 then we won't be able to properly get the more sci-fi-ish stuff like walkers and floating vehicles (eg. speeders)... and what would a star wars mod be without an atst stomping on you?

I guess that it wouldn't be Star Wars.

Good decision by the team to port in my opinion because of the more options available. I just hope that EA doesn't delay the release of BF2142.
