i know this sounds mean but also with 2142 will be new players.. QW is an untested game on Quake engine... im not guna comment cus i personal didnt like quake

Iv seen Quakewars and Bf2142 videos and bf2142 looks and feels better. Quakewars looks too arcadey for my tastes. I can envision lots of strafe battles in that game, which i do not like.

Quake wars will have somje nice mission elements but the core of the game isnt as good as the bf series imo.

I am not a CS fanboy either. I like the BF series cos its a perfect mix between CS simulation and fun arcade.

Is star wars without ATSTs as good? No.

Can a star wars mod for BF2 still be incredibly fun? Hell yes.

Unfortunately, with all the mods jumping ship to 2142, it seems that EA has indeed figured out how to use them as a draw for 2142.

Me and hundreds of thousands of people would never even consider buying the cash in, generic sci fi crap that is 2142, especially since we would rather be playing great BF2 mods for free. Yes, many people like myself strongly dislike everything about 2142, yet like star wars. Is that crazy? No..... thats because star wars is more popular than the rest of sci fi put together...

Except now that several excellent mods have packed up shop, its essentially that mods have turned into a draw for EA to entice at least a few thousand people to buy 2142 who would have never done it before.

I certainly will not be buying it until I have written proof (or maybe screens heh)and perhaps a few friends playing massive, star destroyer battles over endor.

Cause at that point, id pay 50 bucks for a game that does that, Ill sure pay 50 bucks for the mod that does the same thing smile

Because otherwise it sends the wrong message to EA: make whatever cash in, rip off game you want, we'll buy it regardless.

I hate to sound a whiner, I never whined once and was quite annoyed by the whining before patch 1.22. Then claymore whoring arrived.

Then EA genuinely started screwing with the game that was pretty stable and playable in patch 1.03.

And on different notes, quake is about as original as sams club soda heh.... I would never consider buying a doom or quake game.

Also, arc angel is right about French people. I live in Canada and have been to Quebec three times.... they are the most useless, idiotic and overally incompetent people you could ever have the misfortune of sharing a country with.

Edited out more ranting heh. Just suffice to say, stay out of Quebec or France and youll be ok smile

I think some people are being harsh here. After all,  the devs are doing this for nothing and in their own time so i think the least that should be expected from us is a little support. Sure its disappointing that its going to inevitably take longer to come out but if going over to 2142 is going to result in a better gaming experiance for us then we should be happy , remember they arent obligated in any way to do any of this.

I will say though that i seriously hope 2142 doesnt turn out to be a flop , both for devs ( In what new things can actually be achieved with the engine) and fans of the BF series ( if it turns out to be a pretty crappy game in general then we wont see as many potential players for the mods ) . Anyway im still looking forward to the release of this mod whenever and for whichever game that may be.

Of course there are retards who just go with the general attitude at places like total bf2 and say "no I'm never buying another battlefield game ever again because even though they're fun DICE's programmers aren't gods" and then there are people you don't know about (because they don't hang out at total bf2) who are going to buy, and have fun playing, 2142 but didn't buy bf2.

Personally, I'm still playing bf2 and loving most of the changes made in the patches (most meaning everything except gorping squad hopping)... but I can't wait until the coming wave of sci-fi games enter the market, and that includes both QuakeWars and 2142.

Just for the record, QuakeWars isn't a Quake game, it's an Enemy Territory game in the pre-quake setting.
