Topic: E3 as we Know it, No More.

As it's my self proclaimed duty to spread industry gossip around these forums, I would have let my self down if I didn't tell you that the huge E3 convention, as we know it, has come to an end. No more after hour parties, no more new products, no more record breaking sound systems.... E3 2007 has 'evolved' to a smaller convention floor ONLY open to industry specialists; developers, publishers, other key persons. First posted by, I think, TotalBF: 2. You can read the following two articles from offical sources that go deeper into this:

no new products? Isn't that the whole point of E3?

Re: E3 as we Know it, No More.

Mabye I should explain that. I read the first article (well part of it anyway) and it seems that it will just amount to WinHEC. There will be select media coverage, but the players will all be industry specific- no outsiders.

It is almost going to look like GDC (Game Developers Conference) now (in size)

A multitude of rulers is not a good thing. Let there be one ruler, one king!

Re: E3 as we Know it, No More.

What is the reasoning behind this? The game industry will lose a big oppourtunity to hype their games. What are any possibles advantadges of this deccision? Who even made this decission?!

Re: E3 as we Know it, No More.

The Entertainment Software Association (found here) that controls E3 made the decision. Why, I don't know. I heard rumor on another forum that it's because small developers felt 'pushed' to have their products ready for the show.
