If Commanders were Jedi , would they do any actual commanding?

Also, would it fit in with the time period? Obviously the only Jedi could be a Luke-alike and a Vader-alike.

I'd still like to see heros (not just jedi) but not really as commanders. I hate it when commanders fight. Infact, I wish there was a computer terminal they had to stay in at the main base/ship hangar to command troops.

I dont know how its best to implent them into the game but they are cool which made me love starwars.
