Today, Amazon.com found here has released the offical prices for Micrsoft's upcoming Windows operating system, Windows Vista (the offical site can be found here).

For those of you who were/are keeping track, you'll know that this edition of Windows will come in several different versions (Home Basic, Home Premium, several versions for business/corperations, several versions for the EU, and Windows Vista Ultimate). And with all of these versions, speculation was active with the prices.

Finaly, we have the offical prices for each version! The offical press release (posted here) states that the top-of-the-line Windows Vista version, Ultimate Edition, will ONLY cost $399.99 USD!! That is VERY cheap compared to some of the rumor and the inital release prices of the Windows XP versions.

I know that this doesn't relate to First Strike, but this is a very important development for the PC. Windows Vista will bring un-paralled game support never seen before. For example, gaming features (found in Windows Vista Ultimate Edition only) include:

- Able to play with console counter parts via Xbox Live.
- Able to play/run Xbox 360 games on your computer, without needing an Xbox 360.
- Use all Xbox 360 acessories on your computer.

IMPORTANT FEATURE:

- Software will be able to use more than 4 GB of RAM for ultra-smooth performance.
- Software can take care of physics using the new DirectX 10 standard.
- Windows Vista Exclusive titles such as a version of Halo 3 coming out.
