One thing I am hoping is a far greater view distance for space maps. In GC (not bashing it, it was just a drawback) you couldnt see any other ship or space station till you were relativle close to it (comparing to the size of the map). This would make it alot more immersive, it would help to know that you are still within the battle, and would be plain coool. big_smile

Now as for lag, I doubt there could be ALL that much lag from it just to see a few large ships across the entire map. Maybe all the little ships  would cause some though, so simply make the draw distance on them shorter than that of the large ships and space stations.  It would be simply awsome to see the enemy fleet or space station from all the way across a map big_smile

technically Not doable for Lagg reasons.

GC had massive View distances on a Battlefield Scale, it was probably like 2-3 times larger than your regular 42 map, but any bigger and your just dropping the performance to it's knees.

now that you consider there are even more polygons on screen with 2142, to see everything on the map at once would just kill your computer, unless it was extremely Fast.

This could be achieved through more lods, but I'm not sure if we can add custom levels of lods.  BF2142's graphics are supposed to be a lot more effecient, so a longer view distance might be a bit more feasible, but by how much I have no idea.

Yea , i believe you can just add tons of LOD's .

View Distance wont be a problem , im sure.
