Re: First Strike survey #2

1. I play commander occasionally because when you get a squad or two who take orders and execute them, your team becomes a super-efficient killing machine.

The most appealing aspect of playing commander in FS would be for large-scale space battles, managing resources, sweeping for enemies, and deciding where reinforcement capital ships would hyperspace into the fight (spawn).

2.  I wouldn't play commander if FS doesn't put a unique spin on commander abilities.

Re: First Strike survey #2

I really like what Canadiens just said. In FS, commander's/admirals might have some incredibely cool abilitys in space combat, such as where to position the fleet, and what formations that fleet should be in depending on the specific strengths of the ship. I think FS should lean heavily on a Empire At War style thing here.

Re: First Strike survey #2

1. Why do u play commander?

Because I love leading my team to victory, or going down with them when we fail, but always knowing that I was there doing my job.

2. Why dont u play commander?

Because
A) People DO NOT LISTEN to you.
B) People that DO listen always get owned because no one else listens to orders.
C) Everyone tries to kick you out while you play anyway
D) When no one listens to the Commander, it makes his job useless, thus eliminating the need for him, meaning I can make much more of an impact on the ground fighting.

I agree! It seems people find that just as fun as playing. And it's frusterating too because it fills up the chat and it gets hard to see messages, etc. If there was some way that squads HAD to follow your directions down to the letter, it would be better. Mabye if there was a more detailed chain of command or more responsabilities that was implemented that would help.

Well I like the new 2142 system where you get extra points if you follow orders...
But not many people know about it and therefore they dont follow it...

Re: First Strike survey #2

yeah, and battlefield commissions are great.  Those few things help encourage following orders.
