Topic: Question about Desktop Computer

Hey guys, I just started looking around at desktops and I "stumbled" upon a desktop that, to me, seemed like a good deal for a powerful computer. I'm looking for something that's substantially powerful for modern games, something that has the possibility to upgrade for the future including running SLI, and all this at a relatively decent price tongue This is the desktop that I have been looking at: http://cgi.ebay.ca/NEW-HIGHEND-INTEL-CO … dZViewItem

I was hoping that you guys would be able to tell me whether this is a good deal, and if it meets my needs (including SLI-capability). Any comments or words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated smile

EDIT: And will the video card on this system be compatible with Direct-X 10?

Re: Question about Desktop Computer

um i see a 2.1 Ghz P4 with 2Gb RAM and 500GB HD.  THere is no info about a mobo, video card, bruner, or anything really.  Good amount of RAM? ( iff DDR2 its better) 500 GB is a good amount of space.  that processor won't cut it.  Youll want a Core 2 Duo, o Core 2 Extreme, an Nvidia 7 series card, 2 Gb of DDR2 memory (that matches ur mobo), around 500 GB i guess, a mobo that matches ur cpu and video card, a good burner, a big power supply (500+ watts) and , of course, a good looking case!

I don't know what computer you're looking at but it certainly isn't the one I posted about lol. The one I posted has a Core 2 Duo processor (that's actually the beginning of the computer title), an Nvidia 7900 GT and other info including the mobo info.

Re: Question about Desktop Computer

Here's another desktop that I was looking at that seems to be substantially more powerful and is only $200 more.

Re: Question about Desktop Computer

The first one is better because no current videocard is DX10 compatible.

The problem with the first one is that the motherboard is not SLI/Crossfire compatible, you'll need the P5W or something with SLI in the name for that.

I find 1500$ for a bit on the much side, going by that 1 $ = 1€ in computerland, you should at least get an X1900XT , P5W DH and a E6600 for that smile

Btw don't go for a Pentium D, a Core 2 Duo is way better.

If you have to chose between the two I'd say go for the first, since it's better to get a very high-end card (X1950XTX), than 2 a bit less high end cards (duao 7900). Of course, if you plan to run two 7950GX2's in SLI you'll need an SLI motherboard tongue
