Re: Can we have POE2 feeling on Terrain maps

yea..

tall grass, bushes shribs that you can move through but block vission.
But also theres a slight fog,
Scenario:
Youve got your squad all setup defending a post,
your two scouts on lookout facing NE and NW are zoomed in, and notice some slight movement but beceause tis foggy that far away frmo the due its difficult wether it is just a moving tree in the wind or enemy.
You make a call anyway and your entire team can direct fire in tha tdirection (LIKE PREDATOR 1 when they shoot into forest and wound the predator).

Youll get what I mean, beceause so much cover you can ambush or setup a station and defend it ebceause you see the enemy ebfore the enemy sees you.  The way it shoud be and the way you want it to happen, not like vanilla bf2 when you see the enemy yopu start shooting and they turn around blow you away and you had time to line them up ETC eTC.

UIts voer 1 gig though so be patient.

Thx

Re: Can we have POE2 feeling on Terrain maps

Yeah I was right the map is caled "Fallen" (Usblack has crasehd in a ukranian forest hence the name) The map is entirely infantry only and as such has become (PoE2 wise) the new karkand; far too over played.

The problem with the map how ever is that the flags are scattered evenly around the map and despite how fun it is, 90% it ends up just being circle wars which is just plane frustrating.

I believe the bulk of the feel comes from the huge amounts of under growth seen in all PoE2 maps, but i also believe that the more acurate weapons and a realistically longer sprint bar add to the feel.

Re: Can we have POE2 feeling on Terrain maps

The reason POE2 can get loads of trees on that map is because the view distance is really small.

Having a view distance that small on Endor wont work. It just wont feel or look right.

Belive me, we are tryin our hardest to get Endor looking like Endor. Its a long and experimental task , since we cant use stock models like PoE did .. plus even if we could , theyd no doubt be way too high poly to have the large amounts we are after.

We will no doubt have the lasers srtonger than what bullets are in BF2 . Nothin more frustrating than pummelling 10 bullets into the enemy and them not dieing.

Re: Can we have POE2 feeling on Terrain maps

U guys r he best,

At least you explained why you cant implament it in. Due to you guys needing to prob see alot more on the outside. So Moon fo Endor is the Lambda Bunker + the outside like where Luke  goes to meet his Father?

Beceause if tis a inside bunker with a bit of outside terrain you certinly can reduce view distance to get that feel.
Not trying to tell you, just me sitting here with no idea so il just shut up now and wait will I get to see the map.

At least u knew what i was on about and its not possible with that specific map.

Cheers

Roger

Re: Can we have POE2 feeling on Terrain maps

The bunker is only a tiny portion of a HUGE map.

Re: Can we have POE2 feeling on Terrain maps

Yea the map is huge ..at least the 64 player version.

Im pretty sure tho that ,while Endor wont have lots of fog and a small view distance, Dagobah will wink

At some point we'll probably do Dagobah , so im sure youl get your PoE2-esque look with that smile

Sayin all this tho , there will be plenty of trees in the Endor map smile
