Trust me, it throws the balance off so much you wont beleive it. Putting one in as a easter egg kind of ship is ok, but making it a mainstream fighter is a bad idea. It was only invented in TIE Fighter to give you a chance against masses of A-Wings.

Exactly. The Tie Defender is a beast of a ship. More speed, firepower, and manueverability than any Star Wars ship to date (not counting ridiculous NJO ships).

If it were to be added in as an easter egg, or somehow be able to be unlocked by proven, dedicated pilots, that would be cool. But then you would need to find a counter for the Rebel's, of which no cannon ship exists. Really, the Tie Defender doesn't need to make it's way into First Strike.

The Tie Defender was also very unstable.

There are different ways of balancing than that of the obvious ways. Also different scenarios/gamemodes can be created to give 1 side more people or more powerful machinery.

I'd really stay away from it. Its your mod, of course. While you want the sides to be different you dont want too different. Theres only so far you can go without people getting around the balance.

Im not talkin about the Tie Defender being a default ship. Im just talkin about the odd map where it is featured.

I'm all for having the tie defender in and keeping it the way it is, no changing anything about it to make it balanced since what would be the point in having it in the game?
