Also I  have another idea to expand upon it. Instead of having alpha, bravo, charlie, be gold, red, green, rougue.... all that, and rename the squad leaders something too, only for space maps though.

Stay away from Rogue. That will just make everyone want to be in it. The squads should be, according to X-Wing series:

Rebs:

Red (X-Wing default), blue (A-Wing default), green, gold (Y-Wing/B-Wing default), grey, yellow, black.

Imps:

Alpha (TF), Beta (TB), Gamma (TI), Delta, Eta, Zeta, Sigma, Kappa.
