That would work perfectly - an EMP beam that would freeze ships in place. Obviously it would have a limit, so you couldnt hold them for ever... maybe 30 seconds? Then you run out of charge and would take a minute or so to recharge.

Tractor beams would be immensely fun - imagine tractoring an assault shuttle of some sort as it apprached your hanagr and it getting blown apart by bombers.

Turning it into a weapon would be great, have turrets in larger ships that just fire a beam of emp and hold a ship in place.

If a code could be added so that as long as the beam is in place the operator could move the ship. (not like taking control but slowly move it in the direction they are facing, speed could also be dependant on their size)

Hmmm. When you hit a humvee in bf2 with a rocket, it gets thrown back a little, in acordance with the angle the rocket hit it. I know nothing about modding, but would it be possible to give like, a negative 'throwback' value, so when you hit a vehicle with a tractor beam, it gets pulled towards the beam shooting it? That would make tractor beams work pretty well on smaller vehicles at least.

So, zero damage, but just the impact (in reverse)?

That sounds very laggy to me, as you'd essentially have to spawn dozens of rockets (that looked like a beam)

I think it would be best for corvette vrs capital ship... so the capital ships can freeze the corvettes.
