Topic: Maybe if I act quick, nobody will notice that I've been gone...

Well, I honestly don't what to say. I suppose I should introduce myself. Traveling back many years ago, I was a Galactic Conquest (yes, we all remember that?) fanatic. Even though I was relatively new (Started at 4.0 release), I felt like a part of the community, and found myself frequently playing night and day. Unfortunately, as with all good things, they must come to an end. As the release date for Battlefield 2 drew nearer, GC began to empty out slowly. Fewer and fewer people began to play, and the game became very deserted. As for myself being a BF1942 junkie, I rushed out on opening day and snagged a copy of BF2. Upon playing it, my heart was shattered. The game was quite frankly, crap. I put the game on a dusty corner of my desk and vowed never to play such filth again. With a saddened heart, I turned to my only hope, GC. With the realease of GC 5.0, people began to play again. The once empty servers filled, and I was happy. Now, with the announcement of BF2, there had been many a talk of GC porting over to BF2. Unfortunately, after countless arguments, such was bound to not happen. I remained faithful to GC for a few more months, until other interests took over, and I eventually stopped playing. As time progressed, the massive chunk of data known as BF1942 with lingered on my hard drive began to interfere. I was getting more games, and soon my hard drive literally filled up. I had to delete something. Something big. Something that would free up my hard drive for a while. So, I turned to BF1942. The deletion of all BF1942 files freed up an astonishing 34GB of space on my hard drive, and with a sigh of relief, it was gone. Everything in my life continued on fine, until one day, I stumbled upon the fact the Battlefield 2142 had been release, along with a demo. Bah, humbug, I thought to myself, another disgrace to the series. And yet, inside me, I could feel the compelling of something inside my stomach that said, "Download that demo!' And I did. Well, let me say, I am impressed.  The game implies very creative and non-mundane ideas to create a fun gaming experience. One of the most frustrating aspects of BF2 was the strange realism issues with weapons. Such is non-existent in BF2142. You kill people; people kill you. I failed to see many 38 kill, 0 death scores. But perhaps the most stunning aspect I have not seen in a very long time is teamwork. The Titan mode especially adds to this. Teamwork is essential to maintaining the missile solos and destroying the enemy Titan's shield. I can't remember the last time I loaded up in an assault chopper and attacked an enemy silo, with medics healing, supports suppling, and teammates working together for a common goal. Oh, not to mention the game runs great on my new X800PRO.  Now, after seeing that First Strike is carrying the Star Wars legacy over to BF2142, I have to say thank you. I can look foward now to spending many an hour playing this mod, making new friends, and most importantly, new memories.  I'm glad to be back.

Nice post and welcome to First Strike. Hopefully you'll  have as much fun, if not more , with FS as with GC.

That's the first long post I've read in 2 years. It was great. I have pretty much the same story... BUT I WILL NEVER UNINSTALL BF1942! I only have 3GB left on my HD, so I've been doing other things. Yet, my BF1942 takes up 37GB! yikes:o:o
