Topic: John Williams Plaguerism? (SP?)

John Williams, Stealing parts of songs?

I just watched a 1981 film today  that I haven't seen for ages called, On Golden Pond Starring Henry fonda and Katherine Hepburhn and at the end of the movie the credits rolled and the theme played, and to my shock I hear Episode 2's Accoss the Stars I think it's called.

I Downloaded the song, and Trimmed it to the part of the song where the Accross the stars plays.

The chords are the same, and the first part of the melody is the same, but honestly that's worth about peanuts.

Similarities in music are very, very, common.  I believe Metallica wanted to levy a lawsuit against a Canadian band once because Metallica stated that the Canadian band used a similar chord change that is their trademark, or some BS.

Yea , it does happen alot.

I wrote a tune about 2 years ago...... then about 6 monthes later Oasis brought out Lyla .... the verse similarities where freakily similar. Even down to the composition.

Obviously they didnt steal it from me.

Down the years Iv wrote songs where Im like " thats avin it! "  then I'll realise iv subconciously re-wrote a song from some other band lol
