Topic: Special squad weapons...

In BF2142 the squad gets field upgrades in each round and the squad leader can deploy them and such...


This is sort of like that but still very different...


I don't think that the feild upgrades are hooked up to stats are they ? So if they arent the squad leader can have squad upgrades each round right? And have little Starwars drones and stuff to help them out... Like in  a judicator type map have a little mouse droid that follows them as a UAV... or ammo or health...


If that can't work is it possible to have weapons that a sqaud leader starts with only? Like stationary machine guns or other special guns... Is it possible for a squad leader to drop weapons for his squad?


Not his whole kit but say he had a "Weapon" tht was actually a droppable weapon for his squad members to use.



could a coder or dev answer these questions?

This would be nice to see. And obviously the drones utilised in BF2142 are just begging to be morphed into Seeker Droids, Imperial Mark IV Sentry Droids and maybe some smaller version of the Imperial Probe Droid. Or maybe to hell with it and make the full Imp Probe Droid the last SL unlock?

What are your plans for the Squad upgrades? Bacta and improved blaster power/accuracy type things like in SW:BF2? Or do you have something more surprising in store?

There will be some kit customization for sure. 

As far as Squad leader unlocks there will be droids such as Seeker Droids, Sentry Droids, Probe Droids , Interrogation Droids and a few others.

We are working out a way to implement the Eweb blaster and the MK 2 (rebel equivelant) as a squad weapon. Still working out a way so that the Squad leader drops the actual gun but to be able to use it a generator needs to be dropped by a team/squad mate aswell.

As far as FIeld Upgrades go, we will have to make sure that they dont use the leaderboards/points system

I  have no idea, but they are reset every round so I don't think they are... But you never know.

How about remote control droids, such as the ones in Battlefront 1/2? An idea is the interrogation droid, which has a 1 shot-kill melee attack. You can sneak up on enemies, flying through vents and along ceilings, before descending and killing. Of course, they would be very weak.

The mouse droid could be a remote control UAV.

Now THAT is an awsome idea.I've always liked the idea of deployable fire support weapons, and the idea to make it so it also needs a separate generator is great! Would make for some VERY intense situations in the trenches of Hoth (and elsewhere) I bet.
To make it work, perhaps the e-web turret might not be resupplyable by normal ammo packs (support ammo packs). When dropped it wouldn't have any ammo in it. The generator would be teh only object that can resupply the turret. So dropping one in close proximity to it would juice the e web up and keep it firing.
I'm pretty sure that those 'helo' pads in 2142 that resupply and repair gunships will not resupply and repair any other vehicle, which leads me to believe the above idea is possible.
