Re: Episode VII?

Ok Imma clear things up right now. Lucas is focusing on TV films. Reason being that... and I quote.
"$200 million is too much to make movies like Star Wars so I'm going to focus on TV films." (meaning Star Wars series)
But dont get Lucas wrong he is in the works for an Indiana Jones 4. Check it out on www.IMDB.com
I even heard that Jackie Chan, Jet li, or hopefully Tony Jaa will be in it. Personally I'm hoping for Tony Jaa. Anyway we won't even see a glimpse of the Star Wars TV show until 2008 or late 2007.

When George wrote his story, it was meant for 9 movies, normally

Aye, Supershadow has been well known to be full of it for some time now.

for all ppl who either have TIVO, Direct TV, or get all the movie channels, this weekend  [in the US i know, not sure about anywhere else] they have all 6 of the movies in order from 1-6, now i like the 1-3 the best b/c they have so much action and the comp. generated movie seens are really good, now 4 & 6 could have great great space battles if they are beefed up to be like Episode 3 1st sceen in the huge space battle, i mean imagin a crapload of tie fighters getting wasted by x-wings...

huba da hubbada

The thing is eps4-6 had action all the way thro , sporadically. Ep3 was much like this and this is why its a good movie.

Eps 1 and 2 were like 1h10m of ,to be frank, boring crap then some action.

The best scene out of all 6 movies was without doubt the Battle of Hoth. The only really great scene from the prequels , imo was the battle between Yoda and Sidious. That was done superbly , from the cowboy-esque taunts to the flying Senate Pods. I also liked the pod racing in ep1 ..but it kinda felt out of place.

The originals just flowed. The prequels seemed a bunch of set pieces randomly stuck together and "look at these GFX..theyre great ant they?" type stuff.

As for the space action. The originals win there aswell. The beginning of Ep3 was good, it looked great but I wouldnt really call it an action sequence ..apart from the tiny bit with the Buzz Droids..Anakin and Obi Wan seemed like they were cruising lol .
In ep4 you were in the cockpit with Luke etc and in ep6 with Lando. I mean, come on, the Millenium Falcon flying into the Deathstar ,whilst being chased by TIE fighters vs some cartoonish type Buzz Droids ?  no contest.

Id say , dont confuse nice GFX for action.

Everything about the originals is better ..down to such things as ship design. Ewoks also pwn Gungans lol

Re: Episode VII?

The originals own the new ones.. Cant get enough of the space battle above Endor.. Its amazing..

I think it feels like they tried so hard making everything feel like Star Wars in the movies that they overdid themselves and went the entire other direction... Either that or they simply didnt try hard enough.
If u ask me, the new ones dont stand a chance against the originals

Re: Episode VII?

Have to agree with all of the above.

cool

Though I do think there are a few more cool sequences in the prequels than Bandu gives them credit for. C'mon are you telling me the battle for Geonosis didn't blow you away? And you've gotta admit the lightsaber action in the prequels is technically far superior to that of the original trilogy, though they make up for that with the emotion behind the duels in the original.

I think in general the technical limitations that they had to deal with in the original trilogy forced them to be more creative to pull off the effects that they wanted within the budget, this resulted in much tighter and better concieved sequences in my opinion. The Star Destroyer thundering over you head at the opening of ANH, the Death Star space battles, Hoth, the asteroid chase. All these sequences more than hold their own today, and a lot of this has to do with a stronger narrative flow.

A problem with a lot of the prequel battle scenes was that you just sort of wander through the action and stuff just happens to be going on around you. With the originals you tended to be more focused on a ship or group of ships as they make their way through the battle, you see things more from the pilot's point of view and these tend to be more engaging, you're right in the thick of it beside Luke as he's about to shove a couple of torpedoes down the Empire's exhaust port. You're suffering from motion sickness along with Lando as he spins and barrel rolls the Falcon through the battle above Endor. You're more emotionally invested in it all.

Re: Episode VII?

agree with TALON, the special effects, that was a point I thought about, but I didnt have the energy to write it.. tongue Of course they're better but still.. I feel they're using too much of it, the charm is lost when EVERYTHING is CG.. Robots and models etc ftw smile
