I don't know. I think there should be TKing, but it DOES get annoyed.

One thing I would love to see:

Vehicle damage.

I believe Enemy Territory: Quake Wars has it, where a certain part of a vehicle will effect it's performance. It would've been perfect for BF: 1942 if you could damage a tank's tracks and go from there. Or knock out head lights or a turret so it can't shoot, etc.

Automatically lower the gun if u get a friendly in ur crosshair, some other games already use this

Teamkilling needs to be removed completely - it serves no real purpose other than to make people angry.

Friendly Fire is a neccessary part of any decent FPS in my opinion, and I hate servers that turn that off. It adds to the realism of a game, you can't just spray gunfire at the enemy without taking into consideration that you may have friendlies in the line of fire. It adds more skill to the game IMO.

Sure it's annoying when you have idiots who TK on purpose, but when this occurs (and it is clear that they did this on purpose) just punish the muppets. I think it's daft to consider dumping a perfectly good game mechanic that adds to the realistic experience of a game just because of a small number of idiots out there.

I'm not saying bullets should pass through friendlies. They should still be intercepted, they just shouldn't do damage. The benefits of removing it far outweigh the benefits of keep it in IMO.

Not for a games developer they don't: if it was a borderline buy, and someone really dislikes games that don't have it to some degree, they will lose customers from removing it. On the other hand, you never see anyone complaining they won't buy a game because it has friendly fire.

You're missing my point. I'm saying that from a gameplay point of view it would be a bad idea as far as realism goes, not an asthetic problem. Having to think before you shoot, and suffering the consequences if you make a bad call and shoot a friendly adds to the gameplay. It makes you have to play more inteligently rather than just shooting at anything that moves.

Heh, all the Talon's in this post are sure gonna make things confusing.

Re: Andrew's Battlefield: 3 Rumor Thread- I NEED YOUR HELP! Wishlist Too.

In favor of having teamkilling (which I think is a must) I would like to tell you this story my friend experienced.

"A group of 4 of us were under fire and trying to hide from a walker on a snow map. I mean like walker was right behind the wall, and we just all kept running around it hiding near boxes. Another person from our team comes and tries to shoot the walker with his assault rifle, standing next to us. We knew that walker would just kill him and probably find us. So.... i took my handgun and shot him in the back of the head.

Walker saw nothing, walked away, team saved, I'm punished"

Now I realize this is not the kind of thing that is going to happen everytime you play but come on. If I am in a tank and I accidentally mistake one of my teamates for an enemy and put a shell inside of him, he's gonna die.

Yes, so the guy was an idiot - but what if someone TKed you (you, your friend, whatever) while they were trying to sneak around? Or what if the guy had a rocket launcher? He would be discovered, so would you kill him? Woiuld you kill everyone in a 5m circle of you in case the enemy saw you?

Having to think before you shoot, and suffering the consequences if you make a bad call and shoot a friendly adds to the gameplay.

Suffer the consequences? Its the teamkilled guy that has the problem, the problem of being dead. Havn't you ever spent 5 minutes getting to a good location, only to be teamkilled?

I'm not calling for a total blanket no TKing, anyway. Artillery should definitely kill friendlies, and possibly vehicles too.

Re: Andrew's Battlefield: 3 Rumor Thread- I NEED YOUR HELP! Wishlist Too.

You guys need to stop argueing about it... Games will almost always have the OPTION of FF or NO FF.

You can see if it does in the server properties... FF is what some people like and other people get pissed over. If you like it play with it then good for you, if you don't then don't join a server with FF and don't complain.

Some people like the realism, some people hate getting killed while they try to get into an airplane.
