Topic: Escort Shuttle - Heavily Armed Troop Transport
I don't mean to sound like a pest, but I would really love to see this ship in game. It wouldn't be one of those lightly armed, highly vulnerable tansports that just move troops to a specific area. It would be able to effectively defend itself, and lay down heavy support fire on any landing zone. Since there probably wont be parachutes (just my guess), being able to defend itself while unloading would be a great bonus. Here it is: The Delta Class Escort Shuttle. Pics and Specs: http://galactic-voyage.com/Dark%20Side- … huttle.htm
In addition to having three forward-firing laser cannons, it also has a dual turbolaser turret on the back for self defense and troop support, and it supposedly carries 10 troops. I know that the devs have a lot of other things to do prior to this release, so I decided to try to model it myself. This is where I'm at after an hour and a half of working on it. I'm running into problems with the back as the only source art I have shows it from the front. If anyone out there could take a screenshot of the back of this model, or just find a pic of the back, I would greatly appreciate it. My Escort Shuttle model:

Re: Escort Shuttle - Heavily Armed Troop Transport
I've been looking for refrence as well, and can't really find any except in x-wing/tie-fighter. I'm also unsure as to when they went into production. I know the lambda shuttle is good for ep 3-6, being a product of the empire. oddly enough, I've found alot of Sentinel shuttle reference, and I've only seen them in the starwars-redux-with-the-shiny-new-scenes-and-annorexic-jabba. also I'm not sure if the wings fold in this model, as its not really a merchant option, being partially an attack craft, and the Lambda and sentinel were designed to *just* squeeze into their type of bay. still ya never know

Re: Escort Shuttle - Heavily Armed Troop Transport
I'd guess that the Escort Shuttle was being produced during ep. 3-6 as well. It seems to fit in that time period, I'm not sure tho. It fits less people in it than the lambda class, 24 vs. 54, so I'm guessing that either the entire craft is smaller (less likely), or the extra space is taken up by more advanced weaponry and shields (more likely). That back part is bothering me. I guess I'll just put a ball turret on it, and call it good. BTW, if the model does turn out well, would anyone one the team be willing to get it in-game. I can't skin worth crap.

Re: Escort Shuttle - Heavily Armed Troop Transport
I'm not the one to say about the model, but as to the paint job.. Did you know that pink is an even better camoflage at sea then grey? Seriously. the only reason why its not used by the worlds militaries is morale. Personally i'd be scared out of my mind if a pink warship pulled up and said "we're boarding you." No joke. Especially not the "Hello sailor" one. makes me wonder what color would do the same for space. certainly not black, cause it absorbs/radiates heat too much for stealth. probably puce. with big hippie daisys on the side. edit. Alright alright.. mountbatten pink is only pink cause no other color would have it. but its STILL pink.

Re: Escort Shuttle - Heavily Armed Troop Transport
It looks good, but what's the point of making it when we already have Lambdas?

Re: Escort Shuttle - Heavily Armed Troop Transport
weeeellll...the Escort Shuttle is designed to fill a different role than the Lambdas. The Escort shuttle is designed to be a heavily armed escort ship, where the lambda is almost solely transport. In other words, the lambda is primarily only good at bringing troops to the LZ, unloading, and the running away, while the Escort shuttle is faster, and carries more weapons, so it can loiter around the LZ providing fire support to the troops. As well as being a good atmospheric transport, it would be a better transport in space. It is desinged to protect convoys and VIPs so it can handle its own against a fighter. That would make it very effective for transporting troops in space if you were say, trying to capture a capital ship. Especially if the capital (probably disabled) ship were protected by squadrons of fighters.
