Re: Space...

You're mixing 0g with Newtonian physics. 0g simply means you can't fall. If you cut the engines, you should just stay in place. Newtonian physics allows you to turn around without changing direction, which star wars definitely didn't have (otherwise the x-wings would have gone down the trench backwards, shooting the TIEs). In Newtonian Physics, if you cut your engines, you'll keep moving at a constant speed, until you thrust in the opposite direction.

Re: Space...

Of course Newtownian Physics aren't entirely correct anyway.

I.E if a viper from BSG went down the trench that would be able to go backwards down the trench and shoot the tie but this isn't BSG

Re: Space...

Starwars physics are more like... You can move in any direction you want, at what ever speed you want, without drifting.

X,Y,Z all the same in starwars space.

Its been too long since my physics lessons tongue Still, you understood what I was getting at

On the subject, I hope the team dont try and implement too harsh a 0g environment. If anybody played the early release of the BSG mod, they will know what I mean. Having ships twirl 180 and keep heading along their previous course just isnt Star Wars. . In any case Lucas based some of the space battles in episodes IV - VI on old WW2 movies, which is why they have never really felt like 'true' space battles imho

yeah some portions of it (Han and Luke destroying TIEs in their MF) is a 1-1 copy of an old WWII-movie

I can remember in a documentry speilberg said when he saw the first cut of Star Wars that bit off the film had that WW2 movie footage in it (they hadn't done the SFX yet)
