Topic: Vergesso Asteroids

I posted this in wants, but nobody looked, so I made a few revisions and a map, and here it is:

This is a little map idea I came up with - it should combine one-flag CTF with some zero-g action.

Setting: Asteroid Field. At either end is an VSD and MC40. In the middle is a freighter impaled on an asteroid. The map has no gravity, and the fighters/transports are spawned into.

Background: The Imperial Mobquet Transport Revenant, while secretly transporting sensitive cargo (perhaps TIE Advanced plans), underwent a navigational faliure, and exited hyperspace within an asteroid field. Unable to escape, it rammed an asteroid. As all hands went down, a distress signal was sent. The Revenant's encoder was damaged, and the signal was heard by the Rebel Alliance as well as the Empire. The VSD Wolf, and a Rebel MC40, the Lusla, race to the scene. Both sides must try to capture the sensitive cargo before it falls to the enemy.

Forces
Rebel: 1 MC40 (immobile), 12 X-Wings, 6 Y-Wings (2 seater), 2 YT-1300s (8 seater)

Imperial: 1 VSD (immobile), 12 TIE/Fs, 12 TIE/Bs, 2 Sentinel Transports (8 seater)

Goal

Both sides must retrieve the cargo (possibly some sort of barrel, or maybe a datapad) from the inside of the freighter. The freighter has no gravity, so the teams must fly their transports in close, and release troops in Zero-G suits, who must then search the freighter for the cargo. The first one to successfully take the cargo to their capship wins.

Classes

Pilot - Unarmed (since you can't exit fighters anyway). Only pilots can fly fighters.
Spacetrooper/Rebel Commando - assault and support versions. Can only spawn into the transports. Have a limited amount of air in their suits (5 minutes) to prevent camping of the middle base.

Notes

The flag can only be carried in a transport, as you cannot enter the fighters using the E button - only by spawning into them. The flag will be in the form of a pick-up kit, that will respawn in the Revenant as soon as the player is killed. The game is won upon landing the transport inside your command ship's hangar.

This map should promote teamplay, as there are many more fighters than transports - simply flying off in a transport alone will get you killed. Players will need to wait for gunners, and co-ordinate escorts, to prevent being killed by torpedoes launched form bombers. Ideally, the X-Wings should be armed with only lasers for this map (perhaps the rebels are experiencing a torpedo shortage), as otherwise they will take down the Sentinels too easily.

Re: Vergesso Asteroids

I've been pondering a map where a freighter began in the middle and Imperials and Rebels began equally distant from it, for then to try to capture it by boarding and bring it to their side of the map in a sort of "tug-o'-war" scenario (obviously, it'd not be possible to destroy it). Your idea, though, I like far better.

Also, I note with barely suppressed envy-induced hatred that your star field is prettier than mine tongue .

Some questions and suggestions:
If I may make a suggestion, maybe the freighter could have a pretty large interior (a fair bit bigger than a cruiser, possibly over several decks) so that there would be some nice firefights and so on in there? If so, should the objective "flag" hidden randomly in the freighter? That'd add to playability, I think, so I like it, even more so if it re-spawns in a different location every time, even within a round.

This must be made!

Agreed. This is looking good.

Re: Vergesso Asteroids

Try google images: starfield.

For the freighter thing, the biggest freighter is the starhauler, I think.

And she's one Heck of a beauty.

She's actually grey, even though she doesn't look like it in that shot.

Re: Vergesso Asteroids

Looks very imperial.

I like this map/idea for CTF in space smile

Re: Vergesso Asteroids

Here's another one

If you guys really want a big ship, why not make it an ISD? Since it hit an asteroid, it can't shoot anyway.

If so, should the objective "flag" hidden randomly in the freighter? That'd add to playability, I think, so I like it, even more so if it re-spawns in a different location every time, even within a round.

I like this, is it possible to spawn it in random places?

EDIT: Got it. A star Galleon is perfect. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Gal … ss_frigate

There are two forms, the square one from TIE Fighter and the rounder one from XWA
