Topic: Ex-GC Players - Post your fond memories of GC here!

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, still getting used to the site:).

The memories and times I experienced with GC were unbeilvable. I'd prefer playing GC online than playing other games like Warcraft 3 or Command and Conquer Generals. Post any fond memories you have of GC to share!

One of my favorite memories was back in my rookie days in GC v3.0. One night I joined a server and played it until Tatooine showed up. I was a Rebel, and they're were only about 16 people in the server.

Someone on the Imperials annouced that the Mos Eisly Cantina is "open" and is a "safe place for rebels to hide". I'd thought that someone was actually had a scheme to win the match to lure rebels into the Cantina to take the flag, getting free kills in the process. However, a couple of guys on the Rebels actually got into the Cantina, and were doing the usual (and much later annoying, which I took part of) Cantina bar, pretending to drink a beer and going nuts.

I was getting pissed off because whenever I was going to the Cantina, I'd blow up getting too much speed off of a cliff, or some guy on the Empire managed to kill me. So, I thought I'd exact revenge by taking the flag at the Cantina. I took a speeder bike and entered Mos Eisly, and went behind the Cantina. I noticed the open "windows" in the back of the Cantina. I switched to gernades and laid a nicely place Gernade in the Cantina. I racked up about nine kills.

All of the Imperial players started to spam the chat, saying,"BAR UNDER ATTACK! SEND ASSISTANCE!". I started to laugh, and because I had no backup, I retreated from taking the flag and climbed the ladder on the house behind the Cantina and tried to type on chat, "lol". My moment of greatness quickly ended when a Imperial Stormie climbed up the ladder, caught me while I was typing, and gunned me down.

I was number one for kills on that map too.:D

Well let's see. One of my fondest moments was getting strafed by an enemy tie. He managed to gun down one of my teamates that was an anti-tank. I ran over and grabbed his pack and turned to see the tie coming around for another run. I crouched down, lined up the shot and fired all 4 rockets. BOOM! He exploded gloriously in the sky, debris raining down around me.

I also really loved speeder bike racing on Lok. Heh, getting about 15 or so people to all go at the same time, watching people blow up on oddly placed trees and landings they took a little too hard. A couple of times an x-wing or tie would join in on the race. Now that was cool. Sigh, how I miss it.

Re: Ex-GC Players - Post your fond memories of GC here!

Lots and lots.

I remember particularly well this time in Beggar's Canyon when three Alliance T-16 Skyhoppers operated against an Imperial control point, flying to it in formation and strafing the Heck out of everyone below. You don't often see that kind of teamwork.

Then there was that time or two or three on Hoth when I'd sit in the Falcon in the Echo Base hangar and massacre Imperials with the dorsal quad laser turret. The poor sods had taken the Command Centre beyond the hangar bay, but couldn't get out without getting mowed down by laser fire from the Falcon (there were two narrow hallways out of the Command Centre into the hangar bay, and I covered both easily). I just about expected that Suicide Run theme from Call of Duty to play and the Stormies to pick up red banners. A commissar stormtrooper officer in the background would be the finishing touch ("anyone caught deserting his post will be shot!") smile.

Most ISD Judicator sessions were awesome, too, both as Rebel and Imperial. Never-ending waves of Alliance troops charging out of the corvette at the Imperial position, trying to get a foothold. Intense and awesome.

Oh, and yes, I remember the cantina. Certain people had a fetish for declaring it (a control point!) "neutral" whining when people attacked them. "OMG the cantina is neutral!" "Kick Safe-Keeper, he's attacking the cantina!". Weird times.

"One of the bitches actually gave birth while she was attacking, and her puppies joined in on the carnage."

Re: Ex-GC Players - Post your fond memories of GC here!

I got another memory to share before I sign off for the night;).

Quite possiably one of the greatest space battles in GC's lifespan (And hands down the best one I was in) and the one of the greatest showings of teamwork in GC was during .3 on the GC map where you had the two frigates and the two corvettes, and the two Carrecks and lancer frigates. (I think it was GC Taskforce...)

I was playing as the Imps on a huge server (could've been NoC) with about 40+ people. At the time, I recently made friends with two players from the old Imperial Clan that mysteriously disappered. Anyways, since they were Imperial players, I joined them as the Imps.

The Rebels dominated in the beginning of the match. I orignally expected us to bomb the main rebel fleet, but our one Carreck crusier that was seperated from the main fleet and our two lancer frigates DIED withen the first MINUTES. The Rebels began to swarm the crap out of us, and they begun to do strafing runs on the Carreck's hanger, annhilating our fighter and bomber support. So, what do we do? The Imperial Clan guy ordered the player who was flying the Carreck cruiser everyone was on to increase our altitude up to the very top of the grid. This dude was smart. Two guys who manned the heavy guns that did alot of damage to the Rebel ships pointed their guns downward. One of the Rebel Frigates and the Corvette came and attempted to flank us.

Somehow, we managed to DESTROY the corvette and the frigate while being swarmed by fighters. The other frigate appeared, and thanks to one of our team members to typed our stragety where everyone could read it, the frigate increased it's altitude. We increased ours fast and DESTROYED the frigate! FINALLY, the last corvette appeared, and our heavy gunners annhilated the corvette to bits.

We managed to pull out a come-from-behind win, and that win is by far the biggest comback I've seen in a online game.
