Re: The Official "What do you want most?" thread

Anyone ever notice that clones in 1-3 can shoot, and clones in 4-6 can't hit the broadside of a DeathStar?

I think they picked the wrong thing to clone for stormtroopers when they got Jar-Jar Binks tongue

Re: The Official "What do you want most?" thread

Well, I suppose that this is one of those wishing threads... you know, the kinda things you wish would happen but know it'll never really occur?  So, here goes...

I would like to see this mod have an established linear "storyline."  You would have two groups of players that register either on the Alliance or the Empire side.  They would elect leaders and form a hierarchy in any way they choose.  Then, everyone is given access to indepth information about their team, down to every single player (of which, every player has created their own, unique appearance).  The team leaders could organize their troops in any way they would so desire.

From there, they would be given access to many political, militarial, and economical tools.  The leaders would be given a pool of money to work with, and would have to micromanage nearly everything; from the weapons that each individual soldier has(or squad/ batallion/ company, etc.), to the vehicles they are using, to the bases on each planet.  Everyone would also be given access to a world map, from which they could get information on the planets.  Leaders could initiate attacks and decide which group of soldiers will be leading the attack, both from space and from the ground.  There could also be multiple groups of players that make up more neutral, perhaps civilian, factions.  The Alliance and Empire, as well as other factions, would have political alliances, opposition, etc.

During a battle, troops would only have access to a limited amount of material; specifically, what their leaders gave them.  Obviously, things like guns and knives, the neccessities, would stay throughout an entire match, but stronger or more valuable things, such as large grenades, vehicles, bases, etc, would only be able to be used as much as they are spawned, which is dependent upon how many of each item/ vehicle, etc. there are.  Also, environments (or at least bases) would have to be destructible, in order to have a meaning to battle.

Phew, ok, I'm done.  Hey, I can dream, can't I? wink

I like the idea, Holmes, I really do, but I think that must be organized outside of play, as a sort of clan war thing. It's just too much for the game engine and the common player, I think.

AT-ATs and AT-STs that look really good and are fun to use.

Yeah, I know, as I was writing it, I realized that it was actually possible for the most part, the only difference was that you'd have to take away the in-game money elements (guns, vehicles, etc, spawned dependent upon what the leaders bought wink ). tongue

If you've ever played Project Reality, they have a tournament and put people into teams and have them duke it out, but it's not as indepth as the one I described.  I actually hope that, after release (perhaps the second release), the dev team would be willing to host a mod-wide tournament, allowing people to sign up to teams and then letting them elect leaders, etc.  Would be neat, I think.  cool
