True, they didn't need to use orbital strikes in the movie. However, in the mod, things won't always go how they do in the movie. Had the Rebels done better than in the movie, the Imperials could have gone with bombardment once the shield fell. Just because they didn't do it doesn't mean they couldn't. tongue

The whole point of destroying the shield generator was so that they could bombard the rebel base from space.  If they weren't gonna use orbital bombardment, why do you think taking out the shield generator was that important.  They could have just bypassed it and gone straight for the base.

Bypass it? They could do it just for the hell of it. As you can see in the movie they took it out if n a few seconds when they saw it. Might as well I guess, just in case or whatever. At any rate they DID NOT bombard it from space because they didn't need to.
