Re: KOTOR Online?

Kotor was so good because it wasnt online. you just cant put such a huge story into a online game where thousands of people play it.
a rpg is build around the story. see the name RPG. Role Playing Game.
to play a role you need a story and is anyone played WoW you know that almost nobody gives a damm about the story and just wants some stupid item that there gonna waist entire weekends to get.
woops im drifting of there.

to come back to Auku. online game could have a great stroy to them and sure even be as good as kotor 1 or 2. But then only if the online version is for 2 to 4 persons only, playing at the same time with or against each other.
a MMO kotor would just be like SWG only in a different setting

I'd like to see a RPG where you could drop into another person's world - ideally, your character would be re-leveled to fit his, but any XP gained would be added when back on your game. if you kept the numbers relatively low, say 16, you could even have a mini MMO, with each person's comp or console (I'm thinking this would be good on the PS3 or 360, I'm thinking Elder Scrolls: Oblivion) generating its own world.

The only problem here would be synchronizing all 16 worlds. While the machines were on, this wouldn't be a problem, but if only a few were on, the others would have to update themselves every time they started up. I suppose this could be solved if the world data was uploaded to a server somewhere, so a patch would be downloaded every time you started. Hmm.

Re: KOTOR Online?

They should make a World War II on-line-style MMO - an MMOFPS, to be more specific, with players able to man war machinery as well as fighting on foot. Would've worked great, if you ask me.

Re: KOTOR Online?

Wow! I loved KoTOR so much... and all the time I hoped for a MMORPG release! IT IS going to be awesome.

hmmm, I like that idea. There isn't any need for an in depth story either, unlike an RPG like KOTOR. There should be multiple settings though (pacific islands, southeast asia, japanese and alaskan islands, europe, russia, north africa, atlantic ocean, north sea). I can't imagine the development time for something with that type of scale while keeping the quality level high. If I were to play any MMO, it would be something like that.

Same thing can be done with any real world war. 1600s, 1700s and 1800s wars would be cool though, since WW2 has been done a million times already.
