Re: Introduce Yourself!
Hiya, this is Fingulfin! I am a BFME (Battle for Middle Earth) Modder, turned 2142-Modder. I have recently joined the First Strike team as an Intern-Coder, right now I believe my job is to export models from 3DS to the BFEditor, then apply a base layer of code. I am currently in Kazakstan though, with no 3DS Max OR 2142, I am planning on being back in good 'ol California by Next Wednesday though! I am glad to be here, being a fan of modding and Star Wars! I hope to get to know you guys better as we work on this awesome mod!
Just out of curiosity guys, what tools are you using to mod 2142? I know that there is a lack of mod tools for 2142, but some people have had success with using the BF 2 editors to mod 2142. Are you guys doing the same? Also, I have seen in the past where people have done the modding of a game with unofficial tools, only to abandon all their work and start over when the official tools are released. I know you guys had abandoned what you were doing with this Mod when you transitioned over to 2142 from BF2 - it was originally supposed to be a mod for BF2 was it not? roll Please tell me that if EA/DICE finally get off their rumps to release official mod tools that you won't abandon what you have already done in order to start over using the new tools (if that ever happens that is).
Nope, EA and DICE have yet to release any tools. 2142 Modders are stuck using the BF2 Editor for coding/level editing, and 3DS Max for Modeling. Skinners use their graphic-editing program of choice, normally Adobe Photoshop. Some people use the BF Editor for animating, but I prefer doing it in 3DS... Anyway, thats tools in a nutshell ![]()
