I myself have found the simple maps, simple goals and objectives are usually the most played maps if not the most popular.
For BF1942 a host of Maps could come up in this genre, Berlin, Stalingrad and Wake Island spring immediatly to mind. For BFVietnam the City Maps and for BF2 maps such as Mashtur City, Jalalabad and Sharqi and of course for BF2142 Berlin, Belgrade and Camp Gibraltar mind you a few more could be added.
Basically what Im saying is there is no need to overcomplicate. Strive for an even playing field (terrain) well balanced objectives and stick with it. The "kiss" principle that is Keep It Simple Stupid (not that any of you are !!!

xERO, im one of those people that like either A. A City in a Box Canyon(Desert Conflict Map Lost City) B. A Giant City in a Giant Box Canyon(BF2Pro Map Operation: Black Hawk Down(Original)) B. Huge Search and Destroy map (Endor) C. A Huge Assault Map or maybe D. A GIANT MULTI-LEVEL CITY MAP, which is actully quite small just has alot of rooms and long,long, long corridors(not too long though)

also, i love it if the people that made it put in detail! just a damn air speeder in the air, or building detail, or wall detail, i just love watching movies with stuff in the background, so i watch the movie, then watch it again and look in the background, then watch it again, but understanding whats happening in the background!

Everyones different Venom. Those were just my preferences and in the main most others when it comes to Vanilla style maps.
I have a few ideas for Maps but will keep them under wraps for now smile
