Re: As far from battlefront 2 as possible

And when it happens twice in a row (Battlefront beaten by GC and Battlefront II by First Strike, made in part by the same devs), all doubt is erased big_smile .

You guys should go look up on career opertunities...You could get in with any game developing company with your resumes!

Be careful with what you say, there. That's in part how much how Shattered Faith (a very promising mod made by the developers of GC before they jumped on FS) died - the mod leader was taken by a professional company, and the project died.

I know I'd not like it if I logged on and saw that the whole team had been hijacked to to make Rogue Squadron 4 or Battlefront 3 or something similar tongue .

Re: As far from battlefront 2 as possible

In the defense of Pandemic, they had a terrible schedule. The Battlefront games had a gruesome timetable and the developers had very little time to complete the project in.

We all know that moviebased games are crap, due to the very limited time developers get to create them and in Pandemic's case they had to produce 2. In a very short timespan.

I however do feel they never had any love for the Star Wars universe, seeing the Lore inaccurate pudu they created. It would have been nice if they kept on supporting their game even though LA only allowed/paid them to create 1 or 2 patches for the game.

It's still their reputation on the line. With every new game they create I will scratch my head and think twice before I purchase it.

As you can see with this MOD, it takes time to develope a great game. And allthough it's  a MOD, based on the BF2142 engine,  the time and love invested in the game ouzes from every pore.

You will see things in this game that you will think are incorrect, but that is just because you played the Battlefront series.  All details are checked and double checked with the movies and various other information sources. You will have to rewatch the movies to get your perspective straight.

If this team ever get's picked up by a professional gaming compagny, I hope they can create games in the way Blizzard or Splash Damage is doing it. "It's done when it's done."

So indeed this game is sofar removed from Battlefront that I can truely say it's in "A galaxy far far away" from here, just because of the time, love, attention and devotion it is getting.

And remember that as soon as it's released it will continue being developed and patched. So more maps will appear, more adventures to be had.

Hopefully people will enjoy en feel the "true" Star Wars feeling I have had when playing and upon release we will see servers popping up like toadstools. I know we will have one.

Re: As far from battlefront 2 as possible

Re: As far from battlefront 2 as possible

"It's done when it's done."

No, its done in September 2007 tongue wink (well, the DEMO anyway!)

Although those words are the last thing you want to hear when waiting for a game to be released (It's done when it's done) this really is the only way (although I never think it hurts to give anticipated dates and move them if things change, being open and honest with the community)

The problem with the SWBF series was, as JIMWALKER rightly states, the schedule to release the games at the same time as the DVD movies

This meant a massive rush and a sift through the installation files reveals lots of bits and pieces that never made it into the final builds

FS will be completely different and I believe that the original posts wanted something more "movie like", especially for the Space Battles - watch the DEMO trailer - CASE CLOSED! big_smile
