Okay, I found this project two days ago, and I've been reading the forums and want to chime in here.
Given their timeframe, Pandemic did very well. I was upset when they went to battlefront II rather than fixing BF 1, but it seems they had more they wanted to add and thought they could make a major release out of it.
The gameplay is... okay. Everything mostly works, and its actually pretty fun.

The major error they made that lead to the current complete lack of popularity is that when the game was released and after, they NEVER released a linux server for either game.
That keeps all the major clans from being able to host servers for those games, which basically kills the serverbase and playerbase.
If they had a linux server, they might get a decent number of players (but still a mediocre game), but as it is, they just have nothing.

You forgot to mention:

Complete lack of support by Pandemic/LA.
Horrible glitches and bugs, throughout all of the maps.
Terrible server software. (When using a certain character in your name would allow you to be unkickable)
Horrible netcode.
Jedi's (yech)
Lore inaccurate to teh point it was annoying.

And the list goes on. SWBF1 was fun.

You should try it! it's legend of a game i was just playin it on my ps2 smile.

Stop calling it a legend. Even SWBF1 was flawed, but had it's fun moments. It doesn't even come close to legend.

Legend games are:
Monkey Island series.
Tie Fighter
Bioshock
Call of Duty
