Re: Dev Diary #18 Talon

Awesome. I'll give that a whirl as soon as I get home from work. wink

Re: Dev Diary #18 Talon

Thanks again for the tip, Talon. wink

Alrighty, here we go. I was half right. lol There's no overhead console at the fore section of the canopy, but there is an array of buttons and such on the mid-section of the canopy itself (on and around the ingress/egress hatch).

I had to brighten up the screens because, for some reason, the screens come out darker than the film. Keep in mind these are not detailed diagrams or schematics (unfortunately sad), but it DOES show that there IS an array of buttons, toggles and so forth from the films (I can't find a decent reference in any tech manual either). I marked the points of interest with red squares.

This first pic shows Gray Leader (reporting in before the Battle of Endor) toggling some buttons on the canopy:

This second pic shows the buttons more clearly and, if you'll notice, there's a couple buttons and a switch on the canopy back behind his right shoulder area:

This third pic shows the fore section of his canopy and as you can see, there's no console. Just cables and wiring:

Also notice the shape of the canopy, very wide and low profile. The structure is also very thick. Both points Factor 5 completely messed up on in all three Rogue Squadron games. lol At least they got almost everything below it right. wink

This last pic is the only forward facing shot from inside a Y-wing's cockpit (Gold 2's) at the Battle of Yavin. It's pretty dark, but there is something noticable on the top of the canopy. It looks like it's further up than the previous pic (too bad the shot wasn't pulled back a little further):

I'm sorry I don't have anything truly substantial to use as a reference, but it does get the point across. If you guys do decide to implement these little details, I guess some creative imagination would have to do for everything that was off camera or unclear. tongue

Re: Dev Diary #18 Talon

most of that stuff on the top would require some modifications to the model, we'll possibly look into it some day
