I finally managed to get the game to load...but it was a space map..
My machine is fairly decent (nVidia GeForce 8800GTS (640Mb RAM), 3Gb RAM, Intel Duo 2.2 Ghz) so I recon its gotta be a vista issue...I have had other issues with vista with 2142, but not crashing upon game load..

Having CTD issues here, soon as i hit the deploy button. (2142 runs flawlessly btw)

Thats on a Vista 64 machine, i'll try it on XP in a wee bit.

Slightly disappointed been waiting for this for a long while...

Me and my friend on TS both CTD'd at the same moment and looked like most of the server got it as well.

Questions (answer as many as you can)

1-What graphics cards are you guys using? Drivers?
2-Have you tried clearing the bf2142's cache?
3-Are you trying to create a Local game or joining an online game?
4-What map are you attempting to join?
5-If you're crashing ingame, what were you doing and what map was it?

Same for me and my clan buddies 3 of us on TS all CTD'd at the exact same time on the ground maps! Space maps seem a little more stable though.

7600GT vid card latest Crysis beta drivers (Not sure what the driver version number is for those)

Settings all high apart from the terrain detail (shrubs and bushes switched off).

Only the online game works for me SP crashed to desktop every time I press deploy.

The crashes happen randomly on the ground maps and I don't think it matters what I was doing as my clan buddies are obviously doing different things at the time of the crash.
