Re: Shaders/StaticMeshes.fx fix

apart from the political view on leeching and assumption thanks for the reply and I will try it out

Re: Shaders/StaticMeshes.fx fix

Ok so heres my issue, I had the shaders error and used ADULTSWIMS way to fix it. Woot thats done.  A whole new error has awoken though... Any map I try to join gets about 15-20% done and it just crashes to desktop.  Regular 2142 and its servers work fine though.

Any idea? Any others in the same boat?

Re: Shaders/StaticMeshes.fx fix

It may be related to our other crashes, hang tight and be patient we are trying to get a fix out soon.

Re: Shaders/StaticMeshes.fx fix

The shortcut fix worked for me, there is however NO BF2142Launcher.exe file in my 2142 directory, so I left it the way it was in the TARGET field, and just changed the START IN field from
"C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142\Mods\FirstStrike"

to

"C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142"

and the game loaded right up.

Getting a CTD (total game crash) on the singleplayer map when I hit DEPLOY, but I'm sure that's something for another thread...

Thanks for the tip guys, and HANG IN THERE! There's a LOT of us in the gaming community that's very, very excited about this work of art you've created, and we're PULLIN' FOR YOU!!!!!

Re: Shaders/StaticMeshes.fx fix

After the shaders problem & crash to desktops on server joins.
It works!
Heres what I did using everyones help and tips.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Downloaded my installer from the Battlefield Filefront mirror)

Install into the default path but with "/mods" at the end of it
Close installer
Now go to "Program Files > Electronic Arts > Battlefield 2142 > mods"
Open the "Mods" folder within "mods"
Cut FristStrike
Go back to the lower cased "mods" folder with bf2142 in it
Paste FirstStrike
Delete the upper cased "Mods" folder
Close out your Program Files window
(Remap or Delete your auto launch icon that FS installed)
Start Battlefield 2142
Click Community > Custom Games > FirstStrike
Click Launch & Yes to restart Battlefield
Login go to Options > Video
Make sure view distance is set at 100%
Now in the top left corner click the Red Square/X and close out 2142
Go to your "My Documents > Battlefield 2142 > mods > cache"
Delete the folder(s)
Close your My Documents
Restart your Computer
Start Battlefield 2142
Click Community > Custom Games > FirstStrike
Click Launch & Yes to restart Battlefield
Login and join a server to make sure you're good to go.  It should Optimize shaders for a long time but eventually it will start.
ENJOY!
