yeah i dont hardly lag out in space ,its the ground maps that get laggy

This might sound crazy but i was having the same issue, it would take forever to load then it would be lag land. It also would freeze up my comp loading the maps for regular 2142. I was told to try starting up normal 2142 log on to EA then exit out of the game in the soldier selection screen using the little red box with an x in it, start up the game again and wah la. It might sound way to simple but it worked for me so it might work for some of you guys aswell.

i get it on both styles of maps. i'm going to check a few things when i get home from work will let you know if i find anything.

OK so this actually worked for me.  Why, who the hell knows but my FPS went from 15 to 99.  WTH is up with that. Didn't even have to load a map, just get to the login screen and exit via the 'red X' at the top right and BOOM problem solved.  For now anywho's.
