Re: Reloading

Ok then never mind, but I have a distinct memory of a clicking noise, she doesn't actually pull a magazine out a put a fresh one in, Maybe there is more than one canister in each blaster, and she was simply switching to the fresh one, that has always been what I thought. Then again it might also be an issue with the sound XD

But I think that we have pretty much proven that while some weapons don't need to be reloaded, others do.
Do we all agree on that much?

Something else I found on Han Solo's pistol since I saw it mentioned earlier. I have confirmed that it has a power pack, it is located just forward of the trigger *that little box thing there* and a lever on the back releases it so a fresh "clip" can be loaded.

That is because it is a Mauser C96 with some plastic added smile
And it does not have a detachable magazine, it is loaded with a clip form the top.
I don't think they would bother making a complete fake magazine assembly just to show reloading.

This one probably look familiar too:

Re: Reloading

CLIP VS MAGAZINE....."magazine" is a container in which ammunition is stored, whilst a "clip" is a small piece of metal which holds rounds in place whilst outside the magazine.  Sorry but even in SW this annoys me lol.

And the C96 is indeed loaded with a clip, so what are you trying to say?

Re: Reloading

I just had a startling revelation (thank you chocolate big_smile )
For a weapon to ......erh....."shoot".....kablooey...., regardless whether it be firing bullets, plasma, lasers, the weapon has to have a source of energy.
A star fighter's lasers use a battery *X-Wing*(must be huge) energy collected from solar energy cells *Tie fighter* (cells on the wings).
A capital ship uses fuel to fire its huge cannons, I don't remember the exact number, but a Republic Capital Ship's main cannons (Imperial Star Destroyer, as I'm sure most of us know) use several million  gallons of fuel in one minute during a fight.
But a soldier can't carry around huge batteries or millions of gallons of fuel to power their weapons. So what do they use instead? Small light weight cannisters that contain the ammunition needed to power their weapons for a reasonable amount of shots, power packs, ammunition cells, call them what you will they........ hang on I just realised, er where is it? A HA!!!
"Common blaster weapons use high-energy gas as ammunition, activated by a power cell and converted into plasma. The plasma is released from a magnetic bottle effect to fire through collimating components as a coherent energy bolt."
There is more but it doesn't regard the ammunition, mainly range, precision since that's not what we are discussing.
But see what I am getting at? Every weapon uses ammunition, the smaller ones need to have fresh ammunition loaded into them after a number of shots are fired.

So there should be reloading in FS because it's in the rest of the Star Wars universe, just because we don't see it all the time in the movies, it still happens.

Re: Reloading

Exactly.

It happens.

After 80 or so shots, next to an ammo box. wink

Re: Reloading

eh?

I haven't played online yet because of the punkbuster issues. So I guess that's why I didn't think of ammo from dem little ammo things.
But when your not near one of them, then what?
It would be much ...."Nicer" for want of a better word... to have a few extra magazines in your magical storage pocket that you use to hold all those grenades, bacta tanks, mines and personal shield generators. Hm, reminds me of Master Chief and his magical pockets that can store rocket launchers without anyone knowing that they are there. Anyway that's off topic.
The fact of the matter is, I am pretty sure, all most people want is to have the reassurance of having a few hundred extra shots they can use, regardless of whether it is accurate to the movies or not.
In the real world, actually I think someone said it was no real world just AFK, all the 1st world armies of the world, the grunts carry a huge amount of ammunition, so much it would be to much for a normal person to carry alone. big_smile
