Topic: Background music while playing

While this is not strictly a support question, I'm guessing this is the best place to put it.

Do you FSDevs know if it is even possible in BF2/BF2142 to configure a mod so that it actually plays a music OGG -DURING- play? Does anyone on the team know how it is done? Is there any way we can tweak First Strike to play OGG files on our computers during play (while actually in-game, not at the menus or loading screens).

It used to be possible in BF1942, but in BF2 or 2142, I don't know...

Re: Background music while playing

OMG, I would want to shoot myself in the head after a few minutes of listening to the songs over and over.   A loadscreen or menu music is fine (although I turn my music volume way down), but please no during game play.

Get a good John Williams "best of Star Wars series" CD and play that in you headset.

Not to be harsh, but really it would ruin the game I think.

P.S. One thing that could be done easily is to have localized music (i.e. like the bar music in Tatooine in the GC mod).   Then you could hang out there and "protect" that site. LOL

Re: Background music while playing

I'm not asking the FS devs to put music in every map, I'm asking if it can be done by the player as a tweak to the mod on their own computer. And even if they were to put the music into the mod itself, it would be easy enough to turn off for those who prefer not to listen to it during play, no?

Re: Background music while playing

I think, from what I know about BF2 editing, you can put it in as an ambient effect (i.e. a point of sound somewhere on the map) but no way to "turn it off".   I also know you can set triggers for effects (i.e. if you walk into an area then the sound plays, or birds fly, etc) but I am almost certain it can not be something you can turn on and off or be specific to a user.

You can set effects (i.e. sounds or music) to play only so often.  You could set it so a song plays with in say a 500 meter area of the ISD, when something is triggered, and only do it once every 5 minutes.

And Dominio, I wasn't giving you a hard time about the idea, I just would go nuts with music all the time. LOL

I do have fond memories of the Tatooien bar with the music playing.  That was pretty cool.

Re: Background music while playing

Maybe to have in a few places on the ground maps, *especially Tatooine* there can be canteenas that for a certain radius have Star Wars music playing (my fav, the Tatooine canteena music)
That way it feels like the music from the canteena is spilling onto the battlefield

I may lead a double life full of secrets and deception, but that's no reason to be suspicious.

Keith. you know? Oh, watch out for Kieth."

Why cant you just have a winamp, windows media player or any music suitable program and listen through them? tongue

I agree with Flippy, blaz3r and Bloedig

Music playing all the time would be horrible and its the only way you can have that implemented. So it's jsut not going to happen.
