Topic: PB and FS questions.

Hi, I have been following the FS mod since about the end of August, and downloaded the mod last Friday when it came out. My first question is, if I install the mod, will I still be able to play regular BF 2142 whenever I want to? Or would I have to unpatch the mod or something?

Second of all, I don't expect anyone here to know this of course, but I recently started getting a Punk Buster error and can't get rid of it. Now I know you guys have your hands full with the mod but I would appreciate any help. I did send in a support ticket to PB support on their website, and they asked me for what my PB log said and this is it:
[09.24.2007 21:33:45] RESTRICTION: Service Communication Failure: PnkBstrA.exe

The main reason I'm asking for help with the PB situation here is, after PB support asked me for that piece of information, they hadn't responded back to me on a week... and I REALLY want to play your mod. Anyways, thanks for your time. Hope to be playing FS ASAP!

Edit: Thought I'd mention that I am currently using the 1.25 patch so my 2142 is up to date, as well as I tried manually updating my PB (which fixed my PB errors when I first got the game) and this time it didn't stop kicking me for PB from all servers.

1. yes, you may play normal bf2142 without worrying or unpatchin anything.

2. you may need to update your punkbuster manually here http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php

yeah im jsut tryin to help ya get back to playing this awesome mod tongue

now maybe you could reinstall 2142 and try that i have had that problem before too.

there might be other solutions but thats all i can think of right now

Ya, and I appreciate the help. Posting my problem for PB here is kind of "last resort" for me because I hate to be a bother if not truly required. The thing is, I tried updating PB before through just the single file downloads, and then the .exe updater. Neither fixed it. Then I uninstalled and reinstalled BF and that didn't fix it either. I'm going to try the .exe updater once more just for the random possibility it will work this time. smile

Edit. Grrrr!!! Now BF won't run at all and gives me an error as soon as I try to run it. sad Well, it's late so I'll try it again tomorrow.

When you used the .exe fixer thinger, was it in your /pb folder ?


That was the problem for me.

Ya actually it was. But now, as I put when I edited my post above, my game won't run at all. sad I'm going to sleep because it's late and going to hope that maybe it's just because I am already running a lot on my pc as is and just will try tomorrow after it's had time to cool down hehe.
